Take your truck back to the dealer....its still under warranty isn't it... I know exactly how you feel as my play motor is still in pieces and is ready to undergo some sleeving with all new pistons, rings, Rebore, New Crank Bearings, girdling, ARP bolts, Connecting Rods, Push Rods and full head rebuild...Ain't it fun making power. It must be this thicker Coastal Canadian Air that makes power and destroys engines. Kerry

Sorry to hear that buddy....That really sucks

Just the thought makes me feel sick.

I am guessing the rattle was the fluid damper messing with the crank trigger tone ring...Which messed with your timing and beat up your bearings?

Confession time....

When I installed my 4.4's I completely screwed up the valve lash....Long story short all of the valves got set with zero or less than zero lash....OOPS!
My truck runs well again and is pretty much rattle free.
I don't seem to have burned a valve...so far so good.
The rail pressure thing cleared itself up after a long drive...I have no idea, but suspect something was caught in the fca.

Anyway...I hope your repairs are minor and happen quickly!

Looks like a main bearing started to come apart. Loosing the bolts on the damper may have contributed to the problem.
Rod bearings show a fair bit of wear, you can see there is strain on the rods.
Pistons were scatched from metal in the oil.
Motor could have run for many more miles...who knows??

Looking for a engine builder...as we speak!

you bought up a point that I don't think anyone has thought much about with our trucks.

I found that I have only one dowel pin installed after reading your post. Apparently, Fluidamper used the same part number and changed styles mid stream. I asked where I got mind and they said they have both on the shelf. Some have 2 holes some don't.

I'll be removing mind to trade in for a 2 hole which should have been installed in the first place !

sorry for your trouble but, thanks for the heads up !

Someone should put a call into ARP.. A new high tensile H/B bolt set could be a money maker for them..
