Emissions Question

I'm thinking about going to a 5" Exhaust system on my truck. Unfortunately where I live you are required to get emissions tests. So my question is does anyone know if an 06 will pass emissions with a hollowed out cat?

A hallowed out cat would pass the visual inspection, but would the truck pass emissions without it? Has anyone ever tried it?

Sorry, can't help ya with your question, but you can modify your cat to fit 5" pipe. You could just cut back into the 'cone" area on each side to get a 5" diameter...that is if you wish to keep it...

Yeah that is what I would do if it came to that, but I would prefer to just hollow it out and run the 5" pipe through it. Hopefully some people have tried it and can give me some info.

I haven't had to get one yet, you get your first two years exempt from emissions, but I will need one in May.

Yeah I had planned on removing the X2 and taking the smarty off too, I don't see why it wouldn't pass then. Kinda scary that you failed bad.

I thought I might be able to get by with no cat and Smarty on 0 and be able to pass that way.
