I talked to my salesman yesterday who has 315's on his Mega, and he said the dealer computer will only change it to 285's also.

If my Quad Commander ever gets here and I can get some base line numbers for my truck then I will be getting a Smarty, and will see if there is a difference in programming for a different size tire with the Smarty.

Curious, What would happen if someone was running 37's and programmed the ECM to the smallest possible tire? They would actually be going for example 1.5 miles for every 1 mile on the odometer? Lets see 36,000 miles x 1.5 = 54,000 miles? I am sure this is illegal, but is this how everything really works?

DISCLAIMER: This is a hypothetical question and I would never recommend someone actually do something like this.
Hey OR mega, when you have a chance could you post what month and year your truck was manufactured? it is on the drivers door seal.

thanks!

Got it.

FYI, the re-flash did not change the mileage at all. It has steadily went up the last few tanks of fuel now that I am at 10K miles and have towed a trailer a few hundred miles.

I didn't bother reprograming mine for my 325s. I don't trust the dealer to do it anyway. I figure I'm about 10% off so it's an easy calc in my head.

garcia,
Could you explain to me how to calculate my MPG now? My speedo is slow by 2MPH at 70MPH.

Thanks

Also wouldnt getting the computer reprogrammed for the correct tire size correct the tranny shift points?

Well, you really need to check your odometer and see how far off it reads. But lets assume its off by the same percentage as the speedo. You didn't say which way your speedo is off, but if you have gone to larger tires it will read a lower speed than you are actually traveling. So, if the speedo says 68 when you're really going 70 then its off by 70/68=1.0294. So your speedo is ready high by 2.94%. If the odometer is off by the same amount it will be reading low by 2.94% also. Say your odometer says you travelled 100 miles, you've actually travelled 102.94 miles. Make sence?

Using this information, the easiest way to calc fuel economy is take odometer miles travelled, multiply that by 1.0294 to get actual miles travelled, then divide the product by gallons of diesel used. Piece of cake.

I didn't notice any change in tranny shifting whatsoever. The can be said about my 2004 Titan and 2000 F-150 that were both lifted with 35" tires.
