Electric cooling fan
Just wondering if anyone is running with electric fans? I so an ad in the new issue of DP Mag for a duel setup that pulls 5500CFPM. I have not idea what the stock fan pulls or how much HP it robs.

If you're towing heavy in hot weather, you need all the cooling the stock fan provides. Besides, it's already computer controlled with an electric clutch, so it only runs when it's needed.
I tried a Flex-a-Lite dual puller setup for MDTs (Model 350) on my 1996 Ram. These fans drew 50 amps and could pull the batteries down when sitting at idle with the headlights on and A/C running. 50 amps x 12 volts = 600 watts ~ 0.8 horsepower. I paid $450 to find out that 0.8 horsepower won't move enough air to cool an engine that's working to pull a heavy 5th wheel in Houston summer traffic or through the Texas hill country.
Check the fine print in that fan ad - I believe there's a limit of 18K GCWR on the application of these fans. The reason that I posted above is why. It would probably be fine for a mall cruiser, but not for a working truck.
