egts with quad?
I have a 04.5 cummins 600 with automatic 4x4. I have only had the truck for a couple of weeks now and I am looking at adding a quadzilla box. It is the ajustable box up to a max 100/200 hp/tq. I know in the directions it says not to tow on any higher than level one or two, otherwise the egts could get high. What about unloaded? I do not have gauges yet and want to get this box on there, but dont want to burn the thing up!!!!. Are egts going to be a problem running around in the mid setting with an ocassional run on the high setting. I mostly am looking for more mileage and a little extra umph, but also want to play now and then. I am new to both this forum and the 3rd gen trucks. Any info would be appreciated.

Well, have had the standard for 10 months, love it. I tow with it on level ground on level 2(60 hp), and on long hills back off to level 1. I have the 6 speed though. Loaded I can get the EGT's up to 1400* easily, and can do the same unloaded. It just gets there quicker with load. I towed to yellowstone in july and had to back off of the throttle on some of the passes, because the factory turbo just creates heat when producing 40 psi, even in the stock setting, the quad performs boost fooling, so the pressure gets up there, the turbo is overspeeding and generating excess heat. The box is great, customer suppport even better. You wont be dissappointed.

I'm with Dodgezilla on this one I have the Quad race box and Egt's will clear 1500 on the 140hp setting, but it is clearly the most bang for your $$$!!
P.S. If you have an auto your trans will hate you!! But your truck will run great!

with any performance box, chip, etc, there is the possibility of exceeding the safe limits of egt, on some it will happen quicker than others, and temps will be higher on some, all that is needed is common sense, and you will be just fine.
