egt's again
As some of you know, I had my egt probe located after the turbo and it never got hot enough to worry about even allowing for the 250 degree diference they say to add. when the probe went bad and Edge sent me a new one, I went ahead and put it on the manifold like it should be..... now egt's are high! I can hit the alarm @ 1450 pretty much at will on almost any level and it takes a while to cool back down to 400 when it idles. Took it to edge and had a tech ride with me and he said ya it's too hot so he gave me another probe because he thought that one was just reading too hot. I put it in and it's just the same. Does anyone have any ideas why it would be that hot that fast?

the edge would be my first guess as to the culprit...
turning the edge down would be the cheapest route, the other would be to get a turbo that will keep things cooler. if its doing it stock, check for an intercooler boot/boost leak

I sent the juice and attitude in for a reflash and so that they could test everything to make sure that the egt info is reading right all through the box and monitor. The tech told me this time that this only seems to be just a little hotter than what they normaly see, and it may not be worth worrying about.

That's normal for the Juice. The reason you saw such a big increase from what you were seeing before is that the egt portion of the Juice was improperly calibrated on the old software. When I got mine updated, my egts went up 300 degrees. I called Edge and made the tech go talk to a software engineer and that is the explanation I got. I then hooked up a separate egt gauge and confirmed that the new readings on the Attitude monitor are pretty close to correct. The Juice just runs hot - even hotter on the 06 and 07 trucks.

The thing I really wonder about, is that I can hit 1450 even on "stock". Does the stock setting on the juice add anything at all that could still be causing these temps? With the juice and atitude removed, i don't have any guages to see whats happening.

Been some discussion that Edge was having issues with getting the EGTs right.. Initially they were reading a little low. The stock setting should be stock, how are you hitting 1450? Is it just going up a hill, or is it hammering it down and taking through 80-90 MPH? I could see the stock getting to 1400+ if you are hammering it down and holding it there.

Post turbo you needed to be adding 300* to 400*, which would probably correlate closer to what you are seeing now... On a bone stock truck 1400* is pretty easy to hit when towing.... Throw more fuel into the mix and your going to get even hotter.. like everyone has said thats how the Juice works....
If you want to get the extra power and drops your temps you need something with a better timing setup like a Smarty...
The very high EGT's started with the 04.5, due to the 3rd injection event and the retarded timing to reduce NOX emissions.
