DON'T GRIND THE STOP RING OFF! I had a freind try that and it broke at the junction where it was ground. If it extends about an inch past the end of the coupler it will be perfect in a manifold mounted application. Like I said earlier, just tap a little at a time and keep trying the coupler until you have about 3 to 4 turns in when finger tight. This will be about 4 to 5 turns in when tightened with a wrench and will put the probe tip VERY close to the center of the exhaust stream. When tightened down you should still be able to see 2 or 3 threads on the coupler.

Does anyone know if Dipricol thermocouples are adjustable. I never gave it any thought until I read this thread. I'm not bottoming out, but I'm not exactly in the center either.

I don't want to break my probe in half! I think I'll just not completely tap the hole in the manifold. Thanks for the warning Gypsyman!

You'll be suprised how easy it will go once you get started. Just go slow and easy with the tapping and test fit it a lot and you'll be good to go.

Thanks for the visual reference. On the probe that we are speaking of the compression ring in the above picture is actually a molded in, raised lip that pre-sets the tip depth. Can't be moved or ground off.

Thanks again for the picture. Excellent for reference.

Can I hook up two gauges to one probe??
Absolutely not. Your readings will be way off if you do this.

Instead, do what I did (as I was in the same position you're in now) - install the TST-supplied pyro in your downpipe, or elbow, then switch the leads so that the TST box is reading the pre-turbo probe, and your existing EGT gauge is reading post-turbo temps. You now have the best of both worlds - accurate pre-turbo readings for de-fueling, and accurate post-turbo readings for proper cool-down.
