Edge EZ on the blink or worse??

Edge EZ on the blink or worse??
I have had the Edge EZ on for the last 50,000 miles, set on #4. I have a 2003 4x4 that now has 115,000 miles on it. I was reading through some of the posts this morning about the injectors prematurely wearing out if you leave the EZ set to #4. Seems setting #2 was the most recommended. I was going to the lake today so I set mine down to #2 to pull my boat. When I got up to around 60-70 mph, the motor started cutting out. Seemed to me like it was not getting enough fuel. I never had this problem with it on the #4 setting. I pulled over and unplugged the Edge and ran stock and the problem went away. So, is the Edge broken or is my lifter pump going out or something else? I know the Edge EZ increases the fuel pressure, so maybe it is exposing a weakness in the fuel delivery system. Any thoughts? After running with the Edge for the past 4 years, the truck seems like a dog without it...Thanks for your help!

I would set the EZ back to level 4 and see if the issue still persists. If it does the problem is else where.
Have you change the fuel filter lately?

It may be just the EZ going bad, but the canister-mounted lifts pumps on the 2003-2004.5 trucks are well known for failing in the 75-100k area. If your lift pump cannot supply enough fuel to the CP3 injection pump, it will cut out and die. Has the truck been running fine since you removed the EZ?

It's been running fine without the EZ hooked up. But, I have not pulled the boat yet. I did not know about the code read out trick. Just checked it and I got 3 codes: P 2509, P 0483, P 0514. Where can I go to find out what these mean? Thanks again for everyone's help! Great forum you guys have here.

Looked them up and it appears the 2509 and 0514 were probably due to the bad batteries I changed out 2 weeks ago. Hopefully the codes will go away. I am going to check the fan wires and fuse to see why I am getting 0483 code.
