edge with attitude for 6 speed?

I just got a new 05 dodge cummins with a 6 speed manual, and I am interested in getting the edge juice with attitude monitor. My question is will this work with the 6 speed manual or is it just for automatics? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kevin

It will work with a six speed also. It will alos detect clutch slippage Your truck won't be as fast as an auto due to the time it takes too shift though.

Deere nut,
I know I will have to drill and tap for the pyrometer, will I have to drill and tap for the boost line, or is it read by the computer like my old dmax was? Kevin

The only thing you drill out is the manifold for the pyro. Everything else plugs in, in about 15 seconds.
And PLEASE don't start an "automatic vs manual" debate.

Like djgaston said - just have to drill out the manifold for the pyrometer. Boost is taken from computer on truck. Everything else is simple plug ins. Be sure you plug in the correct plug for each injector. I mixed mine up when i first installed.

PS - I got a good deal buying from this website.

Exclamation Warning

If you purchase one you will have to contact Edge for a RA number and ship it to them for a flash. I have an 05 with the nv5600 and had to do this. The Edge juice with attitude for our trucks were designed for the auto trucks with 3.73 gears. On other models of the juice for the pre 04.5 trucks they use jumpers to switch the programs over. If you do this it will save you some hassle in the long run and prevent codes from being set. So yes it will work but you will have to have them program it for your trans and rear gear ratio.

I would call Mark at Diesel Performance Parts www.dieselperformanceparts.com

He will set you up at an affordable price. He is awesome to work with and really knows parts for our trucks.

Better yet, call Lary here at DTR. He will set you up with a BETTER than affordable price. It also helps keep this great site free (either that or it helps to send Jack and Lary on their annual 3 month vacation). "DTR members get the best pricing - - 304-952-6896"

This reflash thing for the 6 speed is news to me. What happens if you don't do it?

Definitely. Especially if you need a REAL truck.

On a bit of a different subject, does anyone know how the Edge Attitude looks at night? Is it backlit? If so, does the backlighting in ANY way match the lighting of our gauges or is it one of those big blue indiglo backlight jobs?? Does it come on automatically when you turn your lights on or do you have to turn it on manually??

The backlighting is blue and doesn't match our stock gauges but you can change it to bright, dim or off. It does match my XM reciever though.

I got the Juice for my 6 speed and didn't send it in or do anything else out of the ordinary. I haven't had any codes or anything. The speed and RPM are accurate and it hauls the mail.

For year 2006 there are specific models for the 6 speed and auto from what is rumored so far though.

For what it's worth, I've got an e-mail in to Edge inquiring about the "flash" for manual transmissions. I'll share their response when I get it.

Just got a response from Edge.

My E-mail:

In the very near future I will be purchasing the Edge Juice w/Attitude for my 2003 Dodge diesel. My truck is equipped with the manual 6 speed transmission. I read on a discussion forum that the Juice was designed to work with auto trannies and that it would have to be shipped to Edge for a “reflash” before it would work on my truck.

Can you confirm whether this is true or not? If so, is there any additional cost to get the reflash?
Edge Response:

Shane,

Yes, if you have an 04.5' or 05' then you do. Only if it is the 600' or 610' series. Where you have the 305 HP & 550 TRQ. then you would just adjust the jumpers on the end of the box. Our instructions are located on our website for the different applications. Just so you know, any re-flash is free under our two year warranty.

Thanks in advance,
Best Regards,

Jared Scholes

So, if you have the 04.5 or 05 with a 6 speed then you will have to send the Juice in to get "flashed". If you have the '03 or '04 (and I'm assuming the '06 when the Juice is available for them) then you do not.

Awww, come on! Six speeds ROCK, unless you're at a drag strip, that is.

Much easier to fog somebody, plus you can save $4k and spend it on other mods. A $1k SBC FE is a lot cheaper than a full ATS, DTT, Suncoast, etc.

You'll need to, as with a six-speed you'll need 200 more hp than the auto to beat 'em in the quarter.
