Early 2003 vp44 questions

Ok so I just bought a 2003 2500 6 speed with 214k on it. The guy told me it just has a new vp44 put on it and new injectors, all stock.

Im debating on whether to put a chip on it or not, I dont want anything radical and dont want 5 bajillion horsepower. Just a little smoke and maybe some better mileage.

Any suggestions? Main thing is reliability!

Thanks

An 03 shouldnt have a vp. An 03 should have a cp3 pump.

Nope. In 03 Dodge switch to CP3 injection system. The VP44's were only used from 98.5 to 02.

Yea should only be a cp3 and I don't think or know why you would convert it to a VP truck so you might want to look under that hood and check that out

If it has a VP44 then it is not an 03...unless some one wanted to increase the chance for a breakdown by swapping a reliable CP3 for a most unreliable VP44

Sorry can't think of a single scenario where that makes any kind of sense at all.

2003 models came out in 2002. I don't know why car companies do that. Usually after September, car companies start selling "next" year's model this year.
