With my super flexy and droopy Thuren Fab leaf spring pack and shackle I had to lop off the tail pipe after the axle but before the springs. It points downward and towards the passenger side. No real change in sound, but you could feel it a bit more at idle. My truck doesn't smoke so soot isn't a problem.

I had mine like that for about a month just because I crushed my tailpipe crossing a creek and I cut it off right past the axle and put a 45 turndown pipe on there. It sounded ok, but it was a lot different. And just in that month everything under my truck was completely covered in soot. The drone was also really bad and it seemed like it had more of a rattly sound to it. I didn't like it and had to change it

Well it wrks perfect for me and i dn't get all the soot on my paint i have it duped were u can just bariley see it. Anywho it may be a tade louder. But as far as soot its alot better at being clean then having it out the side.

also, im not really worried about the soot. i barely roll any cool as it is, only when the smarty jr is turned all the way up. but thats few and far between. if anything it hazes and thats just barely noticeable.

Mine might not have been flowing right, but I just didn't like the sound of it. It was more high pitched and rattly than running all the way out the back.

No pics, but I can take a couple.
No drone, even when towing. I'm running the MBRP replacement muffler. Still have the factory cat and resonator.

Remove the muffler and put a 6" turnout stack under the truck. My friend did it on his dually with a 7". His dropped right over the axle. Hella sick sounding, not a big soot problem even with crazy larry.
