Lary, thanks for getting my smarty out to me so fast mine also came with a candybar and also bob wagner's buissness card which i thought was a very nice touch incase i ever have to get ahold of them, it went right in my wallet.

everyone else, this is the second time i have ordered from dtr (Lary) and both times i have been more than happy. He has been very helpful taking time to answer all of my questions and seems to have a nack for customer service which to me is very important because its so hard to find nowadays.

i dont know why any of you would be so worried to save a few dollars by taking a chance buying it from someone who may have poor customer service or may not even be in buissness the following month. its a good thing for everyone that manufacturers have minimum pricing. and fyi, ebay has been killing many buissnesses by selling things dirt cheap and its not good buisness to do that. it only hurts everyone in the end. and most of the time w/ ebay you never know what you are gonna get anyway, just my .02

I am sure they are, I am just venting a little after I just got the hose for a SPEC clutch I purchased from an authorized dealer. It was a counterfeit pressure plate from China and the spring broke in it after about 30 miles.

I am still fighting this out since it was an authorized dealer, but supposedly the dealer has been on SPEC's watch list.

I hope it doesnt sound like I am ******* Bob and Marco. I have never dealt with them but hear a lot of great things about them from trusted friends.

Thanks much for the kind words

I do try very hard to accommodate everyone but sometimes I can't find enough hours in a day to answer all the phone calls and emails/PM's I receive. I wish I could but that's just the plain truth of it

How do you know he is shady and crooked? I dont know the guys reasoning to go behind MADS back and sell for less than MSRP but he may not be malicious. I dont own a Smarty and never intend to, so I dont have to worry about finding another product.

I cannot be the only one that believes competition in pricing is not a bad thing. Do you look at prices when you go grocery shopping for items? Do you trust that you are getting a fair price because someone says you are? I shop around and try to find the best price on many things. I am also a avid E-bay shopper.

I guess that makes me a rotten person and I should be taken out back for voicing my opinion.

I've bought just about everything for my truck, except suspension, from Lary and the DTR Store. Great price with service to match. That's worth the little bit more I paid by going with the "authorized dealer" instead of a possibly shady ebay retailer, like ETR Diesel Performance

You have to agree to the stipulation that you won't discount them before you can become one of their Authorized Dealers. So in order to discount them he is breaking the agreement with Mads electronics, that makes him dishonest....Don't you think?

Is he honest as long as he cuts you a price break but fails to inform you that you may have just purchased a product with no USA support? Pretty simple stuff here for me, but then I see things in black and white. No shades of honesty in business, you either are or you aren't. You can make mistakes, every one does...but intentionally discounting a product you have agreed not to just so you can sell them, is dishonest.

I just dont believe in price fixing. I know everyone has to make a living but I dont like feeling like I have been taken advantage of.

Anyway.... Larry, how did you do during deer season? I was down your way this year. Big ol' bucks.

Yes sir we have some REALLY big deer down here. I was looking at a beautiful 14 point Whitetail through binocs with my bro in law one evening as he stood under a tree. About 10 minutes later we saw one trying to sneak through a swampy area that made that 14 pointer look like a fawn

No way to ever get an accurate count on his tines, he was very smart and kept his head low and in the bushes. But the rack was massive and he was HUGE!!!. We did not shoot him, we need big bucks like that out there making babies. I have hunted Deer all over the country and never seen one as big as that one was.

I haven't killed one in years, I still enjoy looking them over and may again one day decide to pull the trigger but for now I am happy watching them grow bigger every year

It's not a monopoly. You have choices. You can buy Smarty, or you can buy something else like Bullydog, Edge, Banks, Dr P, Predator, Superchips etc., Which I see you choose to do based on your signature.

The only way it could be viewed as a monopoly is if Smarty was your only choice within the market.

There are always different views and opinions about pricing, but the reality from a manufacturers perspective is that they are trying to provide you the consumer with the best possible experience when purchasing their product, both before and after the sale.

What you call price fixing, a retailer calls price protection. It guarantees that if they take the time to inventory a product, train their staff, and advertise, that they will be profitable and receive continued support from the manufacturer. It guarantees that some freak in their basement with an AOL account and zero overhead won't sell the same product for pennies over wholesale. MAP pricing is an important part of business when dealing with technical product. The support required for you to use their product is costly at both the manufacturer and retail level.

Sorry for the rants, but you are hitting all kinds of nerves. I have worked 18 years in retail in a very technical field and 5yrs as a manufacturers rep. I have seen it all when it comes to pricing, and I know this - quality customer service will win more business than low-balling price.

I was camp cook this year, so I didnt get one either. I dont mind, we each take turn and I am good for the next 5 years now.

My cousin got a massive 10 point. I could sit between the antlers and I wear 36" pants! The base of the antler was so big around it took both hands to wrap around it.

Pa deer are going to heck quick. It has been a massive slaughter the last couple of years and there are hardly any does left.

Exclamation

The NO EBAY SALES STATEMENT WILL BE RESTATED. NO EBAY SALES WHATSOEVER.

Anyone selling smarty's an ebay lose the right to purchase from any channel of distribution.

Yes the serial number game is back again.

Thanks for your support.
