Dropped the mega a hair...

Finally had time to install the drop shackles on the Mega cab...
2.5" shackles from Don Thuren(supposed to be lift shackles, but work great to drop a 2wd)
Big thanks to Taquache for his other writeup, install was a breeze after knowing what all to do before hand, only took 45mins

Before(sorry, bad pic )

After, ill get some more tomorrow after I get to wash/wax it, been a while...

And the shackles, ill get some shots underneath too...

Thanks!
I know, I may go the cheap route and try to find a set of 285/70/17s for now but I really want some 20" Hoss' w/305/50/20, looks perfect, just dont have the coin right now

Im not sure since I think it depends on if you are shackle over hanger or hanger over shackle. The 2wds are shackle over hanger mount so the longer shackle drops the rear. I cant remember if the 4wds were under or over?(I think theres also a difference for 2500s/3500s) Cant do it on a 3500 with the overloads either I dont think, it would be riding real close if not onto the overload pack that is above the regular spring.

Shoot him an email, I dont think theyre on his site...

Man i didn't know you got rid of your silver truck. Your kind of heading in the opposite way of your last truck.

Yeah, theres room to drop it even more(really the only option is removing springs in the pack) Cant really fit any longer of a shackle in there...
Itll be fine for a while though, ill either get some 285s or some 20"wheels w/305/50/20s to fill up the wheel wells some, cant have it much lower around here without it bottoming out
Couple installed pics...

Thanks for posting that Stacked.

I like the idea of the shackles over adding spacers to the front.

Does this effect towing much? I have a front leveling kit on mine but I would like to take it out and lower the rear but I don't want my truck to sit too low when towing.

Shouldnt really, I had 450lbs of concrete/lumber in the bed the day I installed them and didnt have any problems, I know thats not much, but still wasnt hitting on the bumpstops...
There are also two other setting holes, stock, 1.5" drop and 2.5" drop...

You should still be able to throw a set of airbags on it if you tow something heavier like a toyhauler or whatever...

I ordered from a diffrent place and itcame to $82 total forthe shackles!!! I also but a rear sway bar to go to town on the rear end. Now i just need shocks and traction bars. Finally my tires will look right for the size and i can get redneck rims with extra rubber. i got mine from an online supplier so email me if you want the person. Their the same style shackles.

Just email Don Thuren and he can get you the info...
These are a little more than the airbagit ones, but from what I hear they always send the wrong ones first(either shorter or 1/2 ton ones), I just didnt want to mess with that....
