Driving / Fog Light Ideas?
I have an 05 3500 and would like to install my aftermarket lights but really don't want a full brush guard. The front of these trucks are to nice to cover up and there is no room to do anything behind the grill so I will have to move forward. What ideas or products are available for these vehicles? The winters are long and dark up here and I trailer allot of miles with snowmobiles in tow during the dark hours and really like the extra light. Spring is here now and I have several months to work on the details.
I presently have four KC DayLighter Lights, but could change to different lights if needed.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Andy, I added a set of Sylvania Xenarc HID low beams and a set of Hella 500 driving lights. I used a bar I found on ebay. I too was looking for something smaller than a full bull or brush bar, as I have a front hitch installed. The bar was pricey, but is quality made and power coated, and super easy to install.... I like the looks. Needless to say that I have near daylight in front of my truck with all of the lights including the fogs on....

get a bull bar, dont get a brush guard. you can mount extra lighting on a bull bar just as well as a brush guard. the bull bar doesnt cover much either. i really like the looks of westin chrome bull bars

There is room to mount driving lights directly on the bumper but they need to be fairly slim.
I put on a pair of PIAA 80's in a driving light pattern, they are about 6-7" in dia. Grill clears the back of the light by a hair when you raise the hood. I really wanted Hella 4000's on the truck but they are too deep to install on the bumper and in early '03 I couldn't find a light / brush / bull bar that I liked.
I did have to cut out a small section of the black trim on top of the bumper so the light base would fit flat against the top of the bumper. It all came out pretty well - had several people ask if they were a factory option.

Thanks for all the inputs. I first thought about drilling the insert on the top of the bumper, but the KC Daylighters are to deep for that. I may Give the daylighters to my sone and get something that will fit in that area or keep the lights I have and get the light bar at this site :http://www.randyellisdesign.com/DODG...R/MVC-021F.JPG
I havn't made up my mind yet but sure appreciate all the ideas.

I have four KC Daylighters with 130 Watt bulbs in each. By law they can only be used "Off-Road" meaning that I am very carefull with them. Here in the remote areas in AK it is not an issue. There are many lights available that are street legal. I believe the law requiress no greater than a 55 Watts light. I may be mistaken about that so correct me if I'm wrong.

depends upon your state statutes. In OK for example, even the factory fog lights on our dodges must be off when within so many yards of oncoming traffic. I got a warning on that one once.
