Will the 40" Donaldson be a direct swap for the Banks muffler I have now? Will this eliminate the 2krpm drone? Ever since the new turbo went in I can hardly stand to drive the truck the drone is horrible!!!

Also I'm seeing 40" Nelson & 40" Donaldson...whats the difference?

It should swap in place of your banks muffler, but i don't know if it would be a direct swap because i don't know how long the banks muffler is, It will eliminate your drone if your drone isnt coming from a poorly hung exhaust.

I don't know the difference in the nelson and Donaldson...but i used this chart to pick which muffler.
http://www.donaldson.com/en/exhaust/...ary/056799.pdf

I went with the one that flowed over 3000 cfm because i believe the other one has the baffle in it

poorly hung exhaust systems will vibrate which can create a lot of drone...either from not having enough rubber hangers or making contact with things such as cross members, frame etc.

I went with the 40" as well. MO85171. Sounds great along with a perfect fit.

Ditto that!

I have the M090535 ( 5" ID and 51" long ). While it sounds awesome at idle and at low rpm and mild throttle (with a mild flutter) it sounds like crud at WOT. There's a loud, shrill FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!! sound in additon to the normal exhaust sound. When you pass cars you can hear the sharp sound bounce back at you. Kind of like an old Chevy Caprice that the cops used to drive. You know the ones, the ones with the huge catalytic converters filled with beads...

My old 4" exhaust on my '03 sounded good, but loud. It had two resonated mufflers, so no cool turbo sound out the exhaust like on this one.

What will tone down the PFFFFF and let me hear the motor more without the 3rd gen rasp? Am I asking too much? It will be a bit before I get my new turbo and 2nd gen manifold, so I'd love an improved muffler.

How is the volume at 2K+ when towing?

I am all but set to order mine.
