donaldson 51" to nelson 40"
I put a 40" nelson in place of my 51" today and took a 300 mile towing trip
Talk about awesome!!! i wish i would have went with a 40" to begin with and would recommend the same to everyone else
The sound outside is awesome...much deeper than the 51" and a bit louder with more turbo noise...alot less of the raspiness the 3rd gens are known for
Inside was the same as the 51"....quiet!!, no drone anywhere in the rpm range towing
If your wondering why i even changed mufflers....my 51" got a hole knocked in it from some sort of road debris!?? Thats another good thing about the 40"...being so much shorter i was able to tuck it up in the frame more out of harms way.
I would highly recommend going with the 40" straight through muffler over the 51" straight through!!

seems to boost a tiny bet better under 2k rpm.
Other than that nothing i can tell...other than the sounds coming from the stack are much smoother and deep.
the 51" had alot more high pitched sounds for some reason

Well i have the mbrp and it sure is raspy. Wish I had gone with something like the nelson. Does it really have a way deeper sound from just the muffler or do I need to go off road and get my cat ripped off on a stump to get the deeper sound?
