Donaldson; Real world results.

I just got back from a short trip up to my favorite camping area. It’s about a 350 mile round trip. What a difference the exhaust system makes. I just installed a 04.5 exhaust elbow and 4” I/O Donaldson muffler.

My home in Phoenix at about 1200 feet and my camp spot is at 7500 feet. I’d say there are 5 major climbs in the round trip. I’m pulling about an 11000 pound toy hauler with a BIG front wall!

My EGTs only hit 1248 degrees once. And that was we when some dimwitted blonde in a mini van cut me off on one of the steeper grades. I was cruising at about 60 MPH in 3rd and she jumped into the passing lane and decided to go 45 mph. It took some work to get around her. Up to that point I had a high of 1205. The other 3 climbs never got over 1160. I pulled all the hills between 60 and 65 MPH. That’s as fast as my co-pilot would allow with out losing it.

On the stock system I saw 1380 as a high, and it stayed between 1280 and 1300 on all the other hills. All in all the Donaldson is a great investment! I should also mention the high temperature in Phoenix yesterday was 114. It wasn't that hot at the climb points, but I'm sure it was the warmest I've ever driven this truck through those same points.

I'm pretty happy with mine. You'll probably see a mileage gain as well. Mine went up about 1 mpg with it.

What level are you running the EZ? And do you have a boost elbow?
When I was using the EZ (level 2) I could easily hit 1300 degrees towing heavy. After installing the adjustable boost elbow I had a hard time getting past 1000 degrees. All this with the stock exhaust. Increasing the boost really helps with the EGTs.

I run the EZ on level 1. I feel it's relatively safe, and it’s just too much of a pain to change it. I do have the supplied boost elbow in. My boost will max out at 34.5 on a cold snowy day, at 7500 feet. Most I’ve seen around town is 33.5 or so.

paroxysym, the fit is easy. There's about 3 feet of straight pipe installed between the 04.5 downpipe and the inlet on the muffler.

Hey, I've seen that dimwitted blonde in a mini van. She was out here in Massachusetts the other day, did the same thing to me.

Part number M090544 is a straight through muffler, but it has a baffle in it of sorts. I had to pound it out of the way, but it wasn't too hard to do. You can get it here. Yes you'll need to have some hangers welded on it. It's just a universal muffler.
