Reading this thread reminded me that I had a couple of unopened bottles of Howe's Meaner Kleaner sitting in a garage cabinet. I've been a bit lazy lately and haven't added it to my fuel for a couple of months. I also have been noticing a lot more injector ticking (at least that's what I assume it to be) lately. So, yesterday, after filling up my tank, I added 8oz of the Howe's. Wow, what a difference. The ticking calmed down right away. I don't know what this stuff does, but it definitely helps to quiet down the ticking in my engine.

Alterra?

Looks like good stuff, but an email to them came back undeliverable, and they don't have their product on the shelf in a store in Montana, either. They don't seem real available. I have seen the Stanadyne product around though. And the Power Service is everywhere.

I've been running Stanadyne and Power Service in every tank since new. 06 now has 78k miles. I have NEVER missed a tank. Never really noticed anything as far as sound or power, etc. I always add way more than your suppose to. Pretty much an entire quart bottle to every fill up. Just too lazy to mess with it I guess. Anyway, this last 2 weeks, I used Schaffers Soyshield. No power increase or anything like that, but I have never been so impressed with the way the motor sounds now. It was within the first 50 or so miles that I noticed. For sure not snake oil here. I cannot believe the difference in smoothness. I'm absolutley loving this stuff. Give it a try.

I've used Opti-Lube since the truck had 5K miles, mixed at .9oz per 10 gals of #2. I use it that way summer & winter. I trust the stats on lubricity, and this is pretty cost effective. I never run #1 or 50/50. I use Amsoil Cold -Flo when needed. Runs great, and I don't worry about ULSD fuels. In a pinch, Howes works good too.

Additives should be added before filling up for proper agitation and a thorough mixing.

I've been using the Kleen Flo lubricant/cleaner for about 10yrs now with NO problems at all in my 01.

I'm hoping it will do the same in my 07 5.9.
