5.9 cr in my sd ? new to diesels

I have a 03 F250 with 6" Bilstein lift 35/10.50 tires on 18" wheel, power slots, went back to manual hubs(warn). I am putting in the truck an 05 5.9 cr and here is what I plan smarty jr pod thats the only smarty will work for this conversion that is available to the shop nearby. 4" mbrp and custom cold air and air dog. What can i expect for mpg's(373's) and performance and suggestions?

14 city 19 hwy would be my bet if you drive reasonbly. Gear ratios, tire tread, trans choice, and a few other things can make a big difference as well.

What else can I do to keep my realiability, but add more power safely. Trans is good for 650-7 hp says Garette at Elite, but I'm not sure on which route to go. I would probably be happy with 550-600hp as a daily driver.

Just not sure(daddy smarty) if it will work with the current setup at the shop doing the conversion. I think they said they can only do smarty jr pod. But what turbo should I be looking in to? size, brand?

What he meant is the Smarty so6 wihich is the more powerful "daddy" version of the "smarty jr."

You can look at the DTR store here to see the difference or the MADS electronics website.

A good 62mm turbo would suffice at that power level-- or a stage 3 garrett 3788r.

Sorry, I am new to the game. If I did run the so6 pod smarty, what setting would I safely be able to use (daily)and what type of real world numbers could I expect(daily and turned up to higher levels) ? hp/ft lbs , maybe mpg's? Can I find any tubos of this sort used any where ?

Sometimes you'll find used turbo's on here in the classifieds, but man I've blown turbo's and it's cost me major "$" which is the reason I have a aftermarket inner cooler now... A SPS62 blew up and sent pieces of turbo through the stock inner cooler, scared me to death! You can get a NEW Garrett in the 1,750 range and know what you have and a awesome turbo at that.... Not someone elses for around a $1,000 and not really know what your getting... Call Tom at Turbo resource, he'll set you up with a custom turbo for your power range...

Right on, I can wait for a minute for a new turbo. Especially, since I'm sure I will have a smile ear to ear when this is done coming from a 5.4= no ***** or mpg's average 7.2. Just couldn't afford the diesel upgrade when I bought it. But what will I be able to run the so6 pod "big daddy" at everyday safely ? and thanks for all the replies !!

I'd run the 90hp tune... I run around on the highest setting, but I'm going to get a garrett stage 2 and kinda de tune a little bit...

I hope you're you swapping out the rear axle to handle the new engine. I thought this was a powerstroke truck getting a Cummins.
