Question deep transmission pan

I tow a large fifth wheel in the Rocky Mountains and have been looking at the deeper transmission pans. Do they keep your tranny temps down? If so, what brand should I look into and do I need the deep or the extra deep pan?

John

You need the double deep or extra deep pan.

Your transmission already has extra capacity compared to the 46 and early 47 transmissions.

The main reason I got the Double deep pan was for dilution. With more fluid the junk that floats around will be in smaller amounts.

Are we talking 30-40 deg cooler in the summer while towing? Or just another gallon of hot oil?

I have been looking on websites to purchase a double deep pan. They all state to check for clearance. Do I have to worry about my clearance or making it fit?
Thanks, John

The ATS Deep pan came with my transmission, which I think is just the mag-hytec ? But there's no clearance issues with that

I noticed a drop in temps with my double deep Mag-Hytec pan. In the summer, my tranny gets up to about 150-160* all the time. Was definetly worth it.

Another point for aftermarket pans is that they actually strengthen the trans case and help stop "flexing" which can crack a case. PML makes a good one also.
