Just got the power pup and loaded up the performance(90hp) setting. Went for a quick drive and I must say I was impressed. Truck felt like a new machine. I'll have a better idea tomorrow, but for now I'm happy.

If your concern is whether or not the PowerPup gives you enough juice, forget about it. Read my post about which torque converter to use and it'll give you more information. Long story short is the PowerPup will blow right past a stock TC. I'm not talking about full throttle starts either. The EGT's were less of a problem than too much power. The dealer will probably fix the problem. I'm pretty sure the damage was done before I got the programmer. I made a pretty decent pull up the backside of one of our local mountains. Even stock, the coolant temp went almost to the red and was due to the tranny. I had a full tranny service after that but it still shifted like crap.

So are you saying that the downloader is to much for my stock tranny? If so I am not gonna mess with it. I want to keep the trans stock for now. I am leaning toward the EZ since it is proven with so many trouble free miles. I dont have enough money to fix a down tranny. Thanks for all the input, it is nice to hear the advice of all who have prior experience on these boxes. Later.

Go with the pup, you can always load the Tow (50hp) program which should be fine for your stock tranny. Later on down the road once you get a feel for how the truck reacts you can experiment with the higher hp programs and see how the trans holds up.
