Thumbs up De-Stacked and loving it!

After 14 years of having stacks in each of my trucks I have now de-stacked my 2003 Ram 2500 HD. because it's all the rage! (seeing stacks on a S-10 did me in)So, I fabbed a 4" staight exhaust from the turbo back with a 5" chrome tip. WOW what a difference. Before my truck was a little sluggish off the line but, now it's very snappy! Can not belive the difference in spool-up just by reconfiguring the exahust! Plus I can hear myself think now Hope to get pics on soon!

That's why we run short efficient exhausts with under-cab dumps... more power that way.

welcome to the other side. that's why i don't like stacks - everyone has them. I hate seeing some stock ragged out truck with 2 shiny poles out of the bed. They look ok on a nice lifted customized truck but even then - i wouldn't want them just because everyone else has them. Seems like all diesels around here anymore have stacks or dual exhaust. that's why i went with a big single exhaust.

I had a 95 Power Stroke and in 98 I was the only one at the 4 wheel Jamboree in VT with stacks and everyone was in awe! Now its like a bad weed that grows everywhere! I do mean everywhere. In the last 3 weeks I saw them in the S-10 and then in a Sameri (yes a Suzuki) and also in a Toyota! I'm all done after 14 years. All my friends are shoked but it was a good change!

Not alot of people around me have stacks and none of them are gassers thankfully. I dont really have the room in my bed for them but if i were to put stacks on this truck it would be a single 7" mitre. No one around here has a single stack, that ive seen anyway.

About 5 years ago, my best friend got his hands on a '95 Powerstroke on 38's with 5" turnouts. Only one around at the time, everybody loved it and though it was the ****. Now, everybody has them on every kind of vehicle, even passed an older VW (diesel I think) with a stack poking out of the fender

Brother put them on his '03 CTD shortly after getting it, now he is sick of them and looking at other options. Only hang up is the amount of money he has wrapped up in them, doesn't just want to ditch them completely...

Thats what my stack is .......but mine dumps into the sky!!!

I love my stack and the sound....the thing I dont like is the soot all over the place.

my stack and 5" exhaust only hurt my low end till I put a muffler on then it was a pretty big increase in power...

SIDE exhaust here. 4" straight pipe exiting in front of the rear tire with a 5" stainless tip. Everyone said soot was going to dirty up my rim...which is DOES but by the time it is noticable, the rest of the truck is dirty too...

Well like I said, 14 years of having stacks......ya I've had enough! Plus I even went as far as to chop off the tops and put chrome rain caps on for sh**s and giggles. But nooooooo 3 other guys went that way too. It's like they are wathing me! LMAO!!!!!!

Hardly ever see stacks around here. I like the looks, but I would not be happy with soot all over the back.

Waaaayyy too redneck for me. Always hated 'em.

Why take a truck with clean lines like a Dodge and stick an obnoxious exhaust pipe sticking out the top?

Kudos to those of you who have finally said no to the silliness that is stacks
