Ok, I had a 2005 duramax 2500 crew cab long bed 2wd, driver follow me into a store parking lot couple of nights ago. It was dark and he saw my Attitude on the A-Pillar. He wanted to know if I would look at his settings and see if they were ok. Truck had 4000 miles on it. Completely stock except for the Juice/Attitude.

He said for the last couple of days that his truck did not have the same power that it did originally with the Juice. Told him to check the filters. I checked his settings, on the Records screen was 0-60 5.8s, 1/4 mile 14.5s. I went for a ride with him with Juice/Attitude on high setting, he would definitely run off and leave me with my current mods and Juice/Attitude on 100hp setting.

He was still doing 6.0s 0-60. The truck would haul a$$. Say what you want, but his transmission felt pretty good shifting from dead stop and WOT.

I will get my TC/Trans upgrades done and then be able to kick the HOT Juice up to the 180hp setting and see what happens. Still gonna be hard to beat that duramax without more mods.

Six in a row, built to tow once again thats my own opinion.

definitely respect given here!!! i was just curious... because most guys when they see you with a different HD pickup want to give it a little shot for kicks... i see this happen to me a lot so i thought i'd ask.. that's all!!! overall the CTD will outdo and outlast the other..

This discussion should be qualifed with comparing cheap HP gains. Chebby wins the $2000 and under race for HP. But the Cummins is still the reigning king for BIG power. Just go look at any major drag race/truck pull and see what the results are. Cummins powered truck own the track. So Chebby wins the cheap HP race, and Cummins owns the highest horsepower race. For how long ? I'm not sure. The Duramax are making their big power on the STOCK TURBO !! Once someone figures out how to put twins on them, its gonna be close. There are Duramax's pushing 600-700 HP on the factory turbo, TTS tunes, Suncoast Tranny's.

Long term, I agree that the Cummins can hold the power longer than both. Its been doing it for the last 25 years and has proven its durability. We all know the fate of the 6.0L. Ford is doing everything they can to get it off the market ASAP and get the 6.4L out. The Duramax hasn't been out long, so long term reliability is being determined.

What kind of turbo is on the chevy? Can it be adapted to the cummins? Is it a VGT?

Ford 6.4 - is that a completly new engine or just a bored out 6.0?

6.4 is a bored out 6.0L. It will be offered for the 2007+ Ford Super Duty trucks. It will be twin turbo as well.

I hope dodge goes the twin turbo route also. Good to see one of the big three is doing that. That 6.4 twin turbo will be a beast (if it really happens).

guys there are dmaxes pushing 800 hp with all stock guts and head gaskets the cummins cant do that.i am not here to argue i have a cummins as well but also a dmax that runs prostreet.il agree cummins is the big hp king but its time in service has enabled lots of aftermarket parts to come along, there is stuff comin out for the dmax but i am leary of it ,5 grannd turbos and 2500 buck cp3 pumps,if i se the results from test mules il be on board as well.however the main reason i bought another dodge was i figured if the high pressure dmax can make hp this easily that soon enought the hiph pressure dodge would be in the game too..

What about the Black Duramax that spit its rods out the motor?? Or, does that not count? Certainly it didn't have over 800 hp.

There are 800+ hp Cummins motors on stock short blocks, too

I have to agree that the aluminum heads on the duramax would hold it back a little. both use the same HPCR fuel system licensed from Bosch.

No twins for Cummins

yup did it ,bit it was also over 750 hp at the time as well as a matter of fact it hydrolocked the engine before the 8th mile and still ran in the 12s coasting the last 8th.,and that was a while back, when injecting that kind of n20 and lp things can wrong, lesson was learned and was moved on.the 800 hp on the dmax can be hit with stock short block, heads, injects, turbo and gaskets..the dmax aluminum heads flow the air extremely well, they are very open and hold up to extreme heats.also just to let you guys know banshee tell your dad that wayne has started using the brakes on the dyno to build up boost,he did it for thom at the evnt last weeknd so hopefully your dad will get to run his schied truck on the rollers this year

Me vs. my buddies 02 F-350 QC, SWB, 4x4. He has same exterior mods as me(bumpers, toolbox, etc...) but with a 6" lift. Quad 125hp chip, Quad intake, and Quad exhaust. We were pulling out of his driveway so we were already running about 15mph when I pulled next to him and we hit it. He started in his 75hp setting but I started pullin pretty good so he turned it up to 125 and I was no longer pulling on him. He didn't catch me though. I was in third and in a good rpm range when we started and his truck had to downshift, so who knows. No doubt if we started from a stop he would have got me. Oh yeah, I was on level 4. Next time level 6.

The 6.4L twin in the 07 Furd will be more than a stroked 6.0 -- they are dumping the HEUI and replacing it with HPCR, possibly the new Siemens version. They say that the numbers won't be remarkably different from current offerings.

One or more of them foreign jobs is expecting to come out with a diesel HD in 2007 as well, and you can expect that the next gen GM 2500HD will be pretty sweet too. The Dmax/Alli is a good combo and will only get better with the changes that they have made for 2006.
