Cummins vs. the other 2

Cummins vs. the other 2
has anyone ever gone up against their friend's ford or chevy with simple bolt ons. I suggest Diesel Power Magazine should do a test of the three. Use what is available for a box and add, exhaust system and air filter. EG. use TST on all three trucks with simple bolt ons... This would be an interesting case!!! Max out whatever the box can do on the engine/tranny and see who is top dog in acceleration and pulling. This would be so practical since most guys buy a diesel truck and do simple boltons anyhow, so it would be nice to know who would win it all!!! We all know that if all three setups were MAXed out the Cummins would rule!!! It would be interesting to know how the Cummins stacked up against the other two with simple boltons!!!

my friend has a 2004 F250 CCSB 6.0L Powerstroke with the Torqshift. He added an edge juice with attitude to it and i have the EZ. his juice gives him 100 more torque than my EZ gives me. hes pushing around 850tq to the crank and i have around 750 to the crank
in a race i took him off the line but he was able to come back and get ahead of me by about 2 truck lengths

so you are saying you can beat him??? right??? of course you are!!! if you had the edge juice w/ attitude you would walk him all the way. he would never catch up!!! nice!!!
heard the PSD 6.0 have insufficient head studs for proper seal at high boost levels!!! Your friend's PSD 6.0 will let loose very soon!!! hehe!!! so sorry!!!

The Duramax would probably get the nod on the dyno for what you speak of.

why would it get it on the dyno??? Alllison TRANSMISSION is tougher???? better gearing(5spd)????

From what I have read, in the "low budget" range of mods (~$1000 or less) the DMax will produce more power, but start getting in to the more expensive stuff and the Cummins will walk all over it.
We won't mention the Fo d

I have a 04.5 600 auto 373. With the afe air intake and Banks monster exhaust and standard Edge Juice/Attitude on 100hp setting I dynod 360hp on dynojet. Dont think there is any way to get enough load on a dynojet to get true max hp numbers.
The dyno operator has a 2004 Duramax with same air intake mod, exhaust mod and the same Edge Juice/Attitude. He said his dynod 357hp on same setting.
Dont know what that would equate to on the track. I now am waiting for TC/Trans upgrades to try out the HOT Juice 180hp setting.

There are no less than 6 boxes available for the Duramax that will give 200+ horsepower. There is only one (Bully Dog Crazy Larry) that will do that for the Cummins. The Duramax crowd is making amazing power for cheap. The 6.0 is making good powers to. Take for instance Quad's Xzillaraider box. His Standard edition for the Dodge makes up to 100 HP, for the Ford the Standard makes 120HP. For his Race box, the Dodge makes 130 (on 2004.5) and for the Ford his box makes 160. Competition is getting tougher. All of these electronics have really taken the Cummins advantage away , and the other two brands are closing the gap.

me v psd 6.0 at el mirage dry lake bed. both trucks stock, we had three drags. 1. dead stop to 80 with just pounding the pedal on go i would get 2 lenghts on him right off the bat. he would catch up even right at 80. 2. rolling start from 20mph, i would get 1 lenght on him and would be right there at 80 again. 3. dead stop with foot on break, load up to 2000rpm and then let loose, both spin tires i pull again 2 lengths and yes in some wierd way at 80 again we would be laghing face to face once again. i guess you could say the furd would win in a race to 90mph but how often do u race up to that speed? i liked the result knowing if im at a light i will pull the powerjoke and be able to put my blinker on to where he can see it.

Wow what a great post. I'm amazed at the impartial comments and knowledge shown here. If this was the Diesel stop, the whole post would of just said how Bad @55 the Powerstroke is and how the other two can't come close. Nice job guys

From what i understand from some guys the duramax will not last as long as the ctd nor will the ford from being modified like that they cant take the extra power for the long haul. i dont buy these trucks to drag race for a quarter mile i get them to pull 18k for 200k miles with out blowing up cause i added more hp. thats why all i tow with is a ctd. Six in a row, built to tow once again thats my own opinion.
