Could I put 20" wheels on my CTD????
I know it may be a dumb question but I've never tricked out a vehicle before, and this may be my first.
I really like the way the 1/2 ton hemi's look with the 20" wheels, but after reading al the posts about changing tires and the effects that would have on gearing, towing, mileage, etc, I'd just like to know what kind of effects this would have on my rig???
What ever I go to I'd like to keep the ratios close to the same so that my speedometer is all screwed up. Thanks.

Yes you can do 20's with no ill affects to anything if you keep the same overall height of the tires

I'm running 20x10's w/ 305/55/20 nittos that are E rated. They are 33" tall, so my speedo isn't too far off. I had it recalibrated at the dealer not long ago, so it's dead on now.
The only issues you will come across are the lack of choices on backspacing on the 20" wheels. No matter what you get, they are probably going to hang out of the fender quite a bit. You will have to run a leveling kit, even with 33's. There are quite a few threads here with pics of 20's on 3/4 tons. Just search for "20* wheel" and that should bring them up.

Hey mtedwards, how do you like the Terra Grapplers?
I niticed your in Hendersonville, I've been talking to Brian at Brian's Motorsports about getting a set of 20x10 Moto Metals and Terra Grapplers.
He says 35's will clear on some 2500's but after seeing your truck I'm not sure if I need to do alot of tinkering to make them work. Any regrets on your choice of size?

I bought those wheels and tires from Brian. I have a 2" leveling kit on the front and it rubbed the fenders a bit before I clearanced them. I'm sure 35's wouldn't fit unless you put a 4" lift on.
The Terra Grapplers are good tires, they are very quiet and seem to be wearing well. I don't think they will last much over 30K, but others have had them last longer. I guess it depends on how much towing you do with them. These tires are perfect on the 10" wheels, I wouldn't have done anything different.
Where in TN are you?

I'm in Cookeville. We've been to Hendersonville several times over the years for baseball tournaments. My son plays, he's 15 now.
I saw a chevy parked in town today with 20"x10" M.M.'s and mud gapplers so I pulled up close beside it to look at the tire hight and I just could'nt see them fitting under there. The chevy had a lift to clear them.
I'm alittle confused why Brian would think the 35's could fit. I've never met him in person just on the phone he seems to know his stuff. He said he could mount them and see how they looked, if they don't clear then he would put the 33's on. He also said the same style truck can sit different but I wouldn't think my truck would sit that much different than yours.
Your truck looks good, I'm gonna order mine Monday morning. LCH

LCH-I graduated from TTU. Unless you want to put a 4" lift on your truck you should go ahead with the 33's. Unless your getting something narrower than a 305. If you put some longer control arms in the front to re-center the axle more forward, they would clear better also.
snowmanx- If you went with a narrower tire, they would clear fine. Mine only hit on the outside edge of the tire against the outside edge of the fender. If the wheel had one more inch of backspacing these wouldn't have hit at all.

I think the 305/55's (33's) are the best if you aren't planning on a lift or leveling kit. You can get your speedo recalculated so it's dead on. I'm happy with the gearing, still tows great (besides the laggy turbo), and the best thing is the stability...I didn't notice a difference in mileage either.

I like my Terra Grapplers, I have a 4.5" lift with 20x10 Eagle Alloy Series 114, 325/60/20 Terra Grapplers. I have minor rubbing issue in the front end, mainly when on a little twist, flat ground good to go.
