For those on the fence about cool twist intercoolers, get off. I installed mine yesterday and it took no time at all. Awesome tough piece. The only issues I had, were left mounting ears slightly too long (dremel) and mounting points for condenser didn't match up to well. That was easily solved with drilling a few new holes in the condenser mounting arms. No pics, sorry!

Performance: EGTs at cruise were 75-100 lower. At 75mph, EGTs were sitting at 550-575. Here is what I found interesting, touch the inlet of intercooler and burn the crap out of yourself, touch outlet and cool as ambient air temp. Works like a champ. Oh, did notice boost down about 2psi. No big deal, can't feel it. Later

These are also the ones you return your core with right?
(I see you have an 05, did you have a wonderful plastic tanked one, or metal)

Just wondering if they make you eat the core on the plastic tanked units, or if theyll take it.

 

Is 'Cool Twist" a company name? If not what company makes the "cool twist" intercooler? I want to take a gander at it.

Cool Twist is sold by City Diesel. There is no core charge!!! I think I paid around $940 delivered.

I have one of the "special Edition" 05s. it had the plastic end tanks. The old has held up fine, but i figured it was just a matter of time. Better safe the sorry! The intercooler comes painted black if anyone is wondering. I believe their site shows it in bare form.

Is it noticebly thicker or bigger than stock?

 

Just checked out the photo on the citydiesel site. I would like to see a photo of the whole intercooler, installed or not. They have a photo, but it is of the insie of their intercooler to show fins & stuff.

It is about half inch thicker and a few inches wider. It is pretty heavy also. The fins aren't flimsy. They are pretty thick and stout.

whats the cost of the cool twist looking into a BD cooler for my 06 megacab

 

Cool Twist is roughly half the cost of the BD at $875 and $1500 for the BD respectivley.
