Sounds like you are going to put together a nice install. It is a good, clean system. It is an easy install, the pyro will take you the majority of the time. When I installed my gauges I started with the pyro. I started the truck, first drilled a pilot hole, put grease on the bit to collect the metal chips. Then drilled the hole to size, again, more grease. The air pressure from the exhaust will help to keep the metal chips blowing out towards the drill bit. Drill slowly using even pressure, take your time. It was at this point that I shut the truck off and went on to do all of my wiring, let it cool down a little. Then I started it back up and tapped the hole. Again, grease on the tap, take your time. You should wear eye protection and gloves. I have a 90* drill, made it very easy to get into the area. The manifold has veins in it, so be sure to drill into an open area. Enjoy your Commander and the good information it will give you. You will like the additional power too.

I started the truck, greased the bits and everything and ended up turning the truck off because we were taking our time and just bought a magnet that would fit in the hole and pulled all of the shavings out.. If you do start your truck stuff a rag in the tailpipe to make the pressure blow out of the hole and you won't have to worry about metal shavings at all.. Fairly easy process I was just pretty **** ... Took about 30 minutes...

Ya I think it was between 3 and 4. From what I remember there was no room between 2,3. I remember thinking "they must have ment 3,4. Installed pyro while running and worked great. Add the oil and just tap about half way through the manifold because thats as far as the sensor goes with the recommnded size tap.

Use lots of grease and wipe the bit and tap clean and regrease frequently and you won't have a problem. It takes longer to run the wiring for the guages than to install the thermocouple. Unfortunately the Commander came out about a week after I installed my dial type pyro. The Commander would have been my choice if it had been available when I ordered my guage.
