Cold air intake question stock box

I was thinking about getting the Amsoil drop in filter and cutting a few holes in the bottom of my stock air box. Is this as good as most of the air intake units? I was also looking at the S&B kit. As far as cutting the holes go. How big how many and where. Like most I just don't want to waste money.

Just cutting holes without ducting will probably introduce warm engine heat.

its called SWISS CHEESE box. Search it and you'll find pics and info. Its basically about 30 1/2in holes on the bottom. You can even run like a duct from where your fog light would be (if you dont have fogs) rightto the bottom of the box

I went to Aubuchon hardware but you can also get the supplies at Home depot,ACE hardware, etc. Buy 4" toilet flange and cut a 4" hole in the bottom of the air box.(I had to make the hole with a sawzall and it wasn't pretty, but as long as the flange fits fairly flush, who cares).
Then take the vent tub(Be sure you buy the aluminum vent tube and not the tin foil stuff or maybe the plastic one will work) and slide it over the flange and secure with a big radiator clamp. Slide it down next to the inner fender.
Your done. Here is where I got the idea. http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/cool_power

I plugged in a 4" 90 degree drain pipe elbow into the bottom of my airbox. $4.99 at Home Depot.
