cold air intake?
hey guys, i have an aem brute force tube w/amsoil 4091 filter on the end. i had to remove the heat shield so the filter would fit. is this hurting the performance of the filtration system by drawing warm air? i have heard it does not matter, all the info would be great.

IMO, removing the heat shield shouldn't affect it much. It might get alittle warmer if it sets and idles alot. But when you moving I dont think the air temp is going to change much with or without the shield. And I never heard of heat affecting the ability of the filter to do its job.
By the way, I was thinking about getting an amsoil filter, and was wondering how it affected performance or sound quality vs the aem filter.

farmer davis, the aem is easier to clean. you blow it out with 20 psi of air from any air compressor from the inside out, then take a vacum and clean the outside and you are done. cruising egt dropped about 25 deg. with this filter vs the aem filter, and when it hits 1250 deg. with no load on the truck, it does not climb as fast as the aem filter did. it is a great filter.
