Coilovers?
I'm thinking about getting coilovers for the front end... King, Fabtech, Fox, Skyjacker... Don't know which ones yet...
Anyway I was wondering if anyone on here has them?
Did you think they improved the ride enough to be worth it?
Which ones do you have? And how do you like them?
Thanks

Well I ran into a guy that had them on his dodge and he said they made the biggest difference ever. He'd get them again in a heart beat. So I was just seeing if anyone else had done it.
Though I'm sure your setup is probably almost as good.....
I drive on a lot of gravel roads... so I'm sure it will make a huge difference for me

I didn't realize that Bible-jacker was making a name for themselves in coilovers.
I've got swayaway 2.5" coilovers on my offroad truck, they are sweet when valved correctly. I had the DR coilovers on my Titan. They were valved a little stiff, so you felt all the little bumps going slow, but running 40 mph on gravel roads and sand washes was great.
I ended up ordering a set of 5100's for the CTD. Coilovers are just too pricy right now, but I hate the stock junk shocks.

If you are stuck on coilovers, check out the fabtech 4.0s. They have them for GM and ford HD trucks, you could use one of those and just build your shock tower accordingly!

Buy some King Shocks and get them valved for how you drive your truck. Shocks are what gives the ride. I would not drop coin on Skyjacker, Rancho, Fabtech, etc.... The Bilstien 5100's are a good OEM replacement, but for what you want as a coilover. King 2.5's................

Coilovers are fine but they are definetly not better than a KORE Carli or Thuren high end setup.... What happens if a coilover breaks you stop or damage your truck.... If a shock breaks you can still go.... Just my .02

The only real advantage in a coilover is the ability to run dual rate springs. I guess you could throw in spring combinations and the ability to adjust pre-load, but I don't see this happening on a street driven truck. Sage Carli has a VR coil that actually works, so unless you're seriously mobbin' the truck there's no noticeable performance advantage (for most folks). You're much better off sticking with a the factory configuration and running a good spring/shock package.
We run coilovers on all four of our race vehicles, and with the exception of the pro buggy fronts, all are just used as coil carriers- no valving, no nitrogen. All the work is done by the bypass shocks. Since our front ends don't need a coil carrier, coilovers are a waste of money.
If you're stuck on running the coilovers, plan on gusseting the lower mounts and coil buckets....
