code 299 for no apparent reason?

Hello all,

I was driving to work yesterday when my CE light came on and I lost 80% of my power, no noises, nothing out of the ordinary-----just cruising about 35mph when it came on. I pulled over and looked at boots, connections etc, everything looked fine. Made it to work late, got the scanner out and pulled a p0299. I looked the code up and to my surprise it wasn't even listed (factory shop manual cd). So I of course came here, but found very little about this mysterious code.

I cleared the code and she runs fine.

So here's my question, does anyone know why this code sets and when it does, what does it do to the engine to make it have no power?

Why is the code not listed in the look up charts?

How do you stop this code from returning? as when it sets, it almost makes the truck undriveable.

Thanks,
Lance

Not such a mysterious code........Boost is less than expected.Big turbo= not as much boost as the stock would produce under similiar conditions.

Had that code show up once on my 06. It lost all power but idled fine. I was getting on the interstate and noticed it. Pulled to the side and cleared it with my Down loader. It has not come back in the last 4 mos. I had just installed my new cp3 and figured I had a loose wire . I had a guy call me with a 06 with the same code, he cleared it and it has not come back also. It is unnerving though the truck would barely get to 55mph. Have only heard it happening on 06s. Tim

Digging up an old thread....

My truck has done this exact thing three times now. At least the truck is still driveable when it happens. It seems to only happen when I have my Predator set on the Non-stack tunes.....
