Clutch?

I have the SB Con OFE and it has worked great but i think i am now pushing to much for it. it is starting to slip so i am looking at getting a DD. Now the question is chich DD should i get. I drag race once every few months and have a little fun of the track. i also pull a trailer around 10K lbs. at least once a month. so with all of that on the table what do you guys think would be the best one out there.

Thanks,

No that 400 hp was before i added the mp-8. i haven't been able to get it on the rollers in a while. and that last dyno wasn't done correctly the guy running the truck had no idea what he was doing. the ofe has been a great clutch for me and for many on here so don't let that make up your mind. i would say its the best for the money.

Consider the SBC 3250. Great street driveability and moderate neutral engaged noise. Advertised to hold 550hp

I'm in the same boat.My ofe has reached its limits.I called Peter at SB the other week and talked to him about going to a DD.I mentioned the truck was a daily driver, tow rig and drag racer here and there. Also mentioned that twins are in the future plans. He told me to go with the 3250 unless sled pulling was in the plans which it isn't.I know there has been a few trucks lay down some impressive numbers on the dyno running a 3250,one was over 900hp.

Really¿ How may HP do you thing you have?

Dodezilla04 ran 580 HP through his without slipping and he was pretty hard on it...
(.... and I'm a little concerned since I just put in an OFE and hope to hit 500 HP in the spring)

I know..I felt like I misled some ppl, the OFE is by all means great and holds strong, but it doesn't like hard launches and extreme powershifting and clutch dumping. It is forgiving though after some slippage, and it is a smooth transition through the gears. I don't regret getting the OFE, but when the time comes for a new one I will be getting a DD.

Thanks,
Id say the 3250 Sprung Hub 6CB over the 12CB if ur gonna do some drag racing! The 6CB will shift faster, but if u think u might hook to the sled sometime then look at the 3600 12CB.

Rip, you've changed your turbo so I can see you having more HP than 500, but FM only has a Smarty and the MP 8 so I'd think he's a little less than 500 mark, (I'm just guessing and am DEFINITELY not an expert), that's why I'm concerned...

Correct.

"advertised"

That is one of the many good things about SBC, they are nice and conservative with the ratings. Peter told me the 3250 can easily be stretched further.

My ofe held fine till the addition of a stage 3 pump and TNT/R.It still holds good on anything below level 5.If above that it slips in 5th and 6th gear. The mp-8 dialed in can cause it to slip on level 3 or above.I really hate having to go to a DD because I love the way this clutch is so close to stock feel.

I know, I'm just like you, the extra pressure really is the culprit to my problems, if I turn it down to 0 it will hold just fine. I can slip mine on sw 5 beta 4.3 and the mp-8 on 50%. But I don't want the extra clutch noise that comes with the DD. I shoulda sucked it up and got the FE.

That 62/71-13ss aint getting toasty yet?

I just went from stock clutch behind a 475whp 03 to the new non sfi DD 3250 ductile 12cb?. The same one that was $300 off last month in the DTR store.

Great clutch. Pedel feels lighter then stock but its definetly not as quick shifting as i'd hoped. Clutch holds strong and have done a few 2nd gear boosted launches w/ 35's. I need traction bars now.

Great clutch. I have head of a few members hooking to a slead's with the 3250 DD. They said it holds fine with 500whp pulling but no more and only once or twice a year.
