Clearance Light Install Help
I did a search, but not a lot of help. I just got my Dodge/Mopar clearance lights in, and need help on the install. A list of tools would be greatly appreciated, as well as instructions on how to drop headliner, and where to tap into power supply. I got instructions with them as well as the stencil for the drilling, but the instrucion part isnt real clear. Thanks in advance yall.

I just did mine on my '01' which should be very similar to yours. Check out this thread and it will give you some great info.

M Sandt,
I did a search too. Not much out there yet on the 3rd generations. I did see that you would need a torx 50 for the seat belts. Good luck.
d0dg301,
which kit did you buy? 3rd generation 82207252 or 2nd generation 82205120? I guess the proper template would be more important to me. Any pics?
thanks,
Bob

I know what you mean. That is my only hesitation. Right now I know I will have no leaks. Once I put the lights on I have to worry about a leak and then a possible rust problem from the non factory cut holes unless one where to treat the freshly cut holes with a rust protector. I wonder if the holes are cut at the factory before the paint is applied or after?
Bob
I will probably never install the lights for just that reason.

I plan on using plenty of silicone sealant to help with the leaks. I wish my truck came with the lights but it didnt and I bought it used, so this is my only choice, the dealer wants $120 bucks to install, and I dont think its worth that to drill some holes and run some wiring. Ill do it myself. Ill let yall know how it goes. I was gonna do it today, but now its raining! Thanks for the help.

Make sure you have very good drill bits, start with a smaller one first to give yourself a start for the larger hole. Take your time on the headliner. My 03 was not to bad to do. The light harness for the roof lights should be on the passenger side by the windshield post. I made sure the 05 had them on when I ordered it.

Even though it was raining, I pulled the headliner down to take a look. It was fairly easy. I saw the harness on the passenger side, and i saw it had two wires, a black and abrown if i remember correct. I am assuming that the black is obviously ground and the brown is the power, so my question is, did yall just tap into the brown(power) wire on the harness with the green(power) wire from the light kit? I just went and bought a brand new 1/4" drill bit and a 7/8" hole saw, so I should be good on that. Other than that, looks pretty easy, just waiting for this dang rain to clear up to put them on. Thanks for the help again.

I bought the kit for the '03' to '06' trucks for mine and I too used rvt sealant on everything. I did dab some paint on the bigger holes to cover up the bare paint, but I would think that if it's sealed up good enough the drilled out holes should not rust.
Man, you have rain were you're at and here it's 100 deg.
I'll go take a couple of pics and post them.

looks great d0dge301, makes me jealous and wish this rain would quit so I can put mine on. How did you run the wiring? DId you do it on the passenger side on the connector or through the fuse box or behind the light switch. Thanks for the help and the pics.

d0dg301,
It looks like the base of your lights have a black gasket or something...is that correct? Awesome looking truck! Have you posted instructions for the factory heated towing mirrors?

Thanks, the lights come from the factory with a kind of hard foam gasket that is formed to the bottom of the amber lens. I also used some rvt sealant on them as well. I just ran the green wire down the driver side apillar and tapped in behind the switch.
As for the mirrors it's not too tough of a job but does require two sets of mirrors. One for 2nd gen and one for the 3rd. gen trucks. You will have to take them apart and then put the 3rd. gen mirror on the 2nd. gen base. Do a search and there is some good info on this procedure.

Anyone know which wire it is behind the light swithc assembly, or is it pretty self explanitory, meaning the wire going in near the "parking lights" position on the switch.
