Rusty,
I just called NHTSA, and had a conversation with one of the Automotive lighting "speacialists" if you will. Anyway, he explained in detail that you can change the lense to clear, as long as the light that is emitted is in amber color. I hope this answers many ?'s on this thread. By the way you are making it like I am driving with cop lights or something. Dude, its clear cab lights.. Relax....

I ordered the smoked lens covers and will be putting blue bulbs in. I figure it will look cool and match my fog lights. I asked the neighbor who is a cop and he said he figured it didn't matter as nobody will miske them for cop lights or anything. They only get ****** about blue bulbs in the headlights that a lot of rice racer cars seem to do up here. If I get puller over and told to change them I will.

What's involved in installing these things?
Also, I see some of you think smoke goes better with silver. Others say clear. Is there a consensus on that?
Anyone have blue or white cab bulbs in Kalif and left alone by the police? The idea of blue is kinda cool, but I hate being pulled over.
Cold Diesel,
Where'd you get blue bulbs for your fogs?
Thanks,
Neil

Thats MR Hoss to you buddy!
I'll agree that if the lights are required then the lights are also required to be amber (or to emit amber light). If yours do not do that then you are in violation of the law and if you get a ticket then it is your own fault.
However, what if you non-amber lights on a truck where the lights are not even required to be there? For instance, my 3500 is not a dually and the lights are not required. They're only there because Dodge put them there. Would I be in violation if I put purple lenses on?? Or blue?? Or red?? Or any color but amber?
With that said....I want them to be amber cause I think it looks cool. I wouldn't mind change to a clear lense though.

NJMurvin,
I got the blue lights from Here This place was suggested by Berak earlier in the thread. I just order blue ones instead. I ordered the type 194 as he suggested, but have not yet installed them. Waiting for a day without snow or freezing rain to stick them in. Weather is really here lately.

Here's something to ponder. If it is such an issue to run other than amber lights, as Rusty was saying, with the DOT/ police/ etc., how do all the truckers get away with all their "flashy" lights on the front of their rigs. My pop is an over the road trucker but he doesn't have the bumper lights or the air cleaner lights that I see many truckers running I95 do. You guys know what I'm talking about? Those purple & red & blue & green lights with crome covers that guys place all over the front of their bumpers and on the front side of external air canisters. If you drive 95 at night you know what I'm talking about. They look light Christmas trees barrelling down on you at 80 mph . So, I guess the question is, do those guys get crap from the cops? Things that make you go hmmm?

It requires about 20 minutes of your time. Simply remove the stock amber lenses, bulb, and then remove the wiring from the oe, and put new amber or super white bulb into the new clear lens. Very simple. If it takes you more than 1/2 hour then it took too long...

Sweet Ride Rancho71! Are you interested in getting this truck displayed on the front page of RECON's 2005 catalog? If so, please email me to discuss.
Thanks for your support of my company's new Clear Cab Roof Lights for Turbo Diesel Trucks. We anticipate these direct replacement kits to be very popular among enthusiasts. We are releasing them offically at the SEMA Show Nov 1st thru 5th in Las Vegas, NV.

Dear SteveZ,
Our R&D department has concluded no such problems should exist under normal operating conditions. Of course we want to hear any and all issues that people may experience while using our Cab Roof Lights especially since the product is so new. That being said, please email me directly should you become aware of an issue regarding product quality or if you have any questions at all.
All the best, and thanks very much for your support.
