Cheap insurance....thieves denied
Well, it looks like this may be the cheapest and most worthwhile upgrade you all might consider. Was at the mall for less than an hour this evening and had some loser attempt to steal the truck (in broad daylight). They attempted to break in through the drivers door handle (probably takes less time than attempting to use the key if they guy knows what he is doing), and the Jimmi Jammer held them up. They did a decent job of jacking up the paint around the handle, but I'll take that any day over a police report and a taxi ride home. Not too bad for a part I got off Ebay for $15.
To give some background, I bought the truck as a stolen/recovered for a great price, and with its history had assumed that the odds were that somebody would eventually give it another go (especially here in Arizona). Installed a Viper alarm along with the Jimmi Jammer, and it saved us from losing the truck. The alarm went off, so that must've helped as well but given the wrenching they did on the handle, they must not have been too concerned about the noise.
Two thumbs up for the Jimmi Jammer. I'll try to post some pics of the damage done if anyone is interested.

Well, after a bit of research I am not convinced that the Jimmi Jammer kept the thieves out. I pulled the door apart, and it looks like they pried the plate down out of the way, and were able to access the linkage that runs from the lock cylinder in the handle down to the door latch (which is what they use to pop the door lock and get into the truck). I do think the plate held them up, and after messing with it they may have been a bit frustrated, but this is definitely not a fix-all.
After some consideration, I just went ahead and pulled the linkage that runs from the lock cylinder to the latch out of the truck, which unfortunately disables my manual lock/unlock on the drivers door, forcing me to rely on the keyless entry, but given this past experience I know at least they won't be getting in this route (probably just smash the window instead). Moving forward I'll just have to be a bit careful not to let the truck batteries or my keyless entry remote die.

Were the Jimmi Jammers not tight enough? How were they able to pry them down?
I am not sure that I would want to take the chance of not being able to manually unlock the door if the situation presented itself. You are putting all your trust in that remote........I couldn't do it.

The Jimmi Jammer was pretty tight, but it is only a small nut that bolts the plate up (via a stud that feeds in from the handle), with a plastic locating pin also attached to the door handle that helps keep the plate from rotating. It appears that the guy that tried to break in used the handle for leverage, and pried the plate down (rotating it around the stud/nut). He was able to shear off the plastic locating pin, so the design is not quite as robust as I had originally hoped.
I completely agree that removing the lock linkage is not the best solution, but given that this is the second time somebody broke into this truck using this method, my motivation to eliminate this point of entry is pretty high. Kind of sucks, just not willing to deal with it anymore.

I think those Ravelco anti-theft devices are pretty cool - I'd rather the ScumBags not destroy parts while they're breaking into my vehicle, which won't go anywhere with the Ravelco installed.
Some DirtBall blew out my rear window one night a year ago during an ice storm to relieve my wallet of $92... cost me a lot more than that to fix it! I rather would've given that PerpHole the Ben Franklin hidin' behind my license just to make him leave my truck alone.
Actually, on 2nd thought - I'd REALLY rather blast the Criminal Element with the Gun de'Jour from the "toolbox".

If I catch someone doing that to me I'll cripple him, I don't care if I go to jail. Even if they're caught, they get a slap on the wrist then set free to do it again. And the good guy gets to take it up the rear.....

Jimmy?
When I had my Ravcol installed I asked about the Jimmy Jammers. The Tech. demonstrated to me that on my Dodge four-door, 2500, that the back door edge along the back window side is easily forced away from the body, and that then a long thin stick/thin pipe/stiff wire can be inserted in the gap and that the electric lock button pushed with such a device, opening the vehicle. No need to jimmy locks nor break glass. Thus, I have the Ravcol. Sometimes for visual deterence, I install a Club on the Steering Wheel, inaddition to pulling the Ravcol key/plug.
