When I take the belt loose for anything just leave the ratchet in the tensioner and use a zip tie or bungee to keep it back. That way you wont have to wrestle holding the tensioner back with aligning the belt.

Other than that, a water pump is pretty easy.

Belt tensioner has a half inch drive access to manipulate it.
I use a long 34" or so breaker bar to lever it... This should gain you access to remove your water pump.

Water pump bolts torque to 24nm/18ft lbs
Belt tensioner (if you remove it) torques to 43nm

Mechanic told me hour and a half just wondering if I could just do it myself. I was also thinking of replacing the thermostat also.

In 1 1/2 hours it should be the WP, T-stat, lunch, and 15 mins. on the Snap-On truck.

1.5 hours to remove fan, shroud, and belt to get to the water pump. I'd drain the radiator and replace all or most of the radiator/coolant hoses along with the t-stat and belt. Might cost a little more, but it will beat being stranded on the road. Killing two birds w/ one stone so to speak!!

Did mine 2 bolts hold waterpump on (MINE is 2003 Model) I guess yours would be the same amount bolts. Move the tensioner like above post said undo the 2 bolts out it comes, easiest waterpump I ever changed.

Mine took about an hour, but I changed the coolant also. 20 minutes of that was getting the belt back on. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but that almost kicked my tail. That being said I changed the belt last week and It was a breeze.( must of been the practice)

Why did you remove fan and shroud? All i removed was the air box and slipped the belt off. Two bolts and a little antifreeze everywhere and i was done. HAHAHA
