Look at a cobra 19.About 5 inches wide mounted mine to the ash tray lid I don't use.Had it peaked and tuned at radio shop works great.I would like to have my cobra 29 with 500 watt kicker in there but not enough room anywhere.Just keep it away from a box like Quadzilla it doe's not like the signal from the radio.

Iv'e got a Cobra 29 between the middle seat and the cup holder. Its got a little work done, and makes my seat belt warning light flicker if I talk too loudly. It's got an Astatic mic on it now. The Cobra mic was junk.

I don't know a lot about radios, especially when it comes to high horsepower things. Can't you put the linear under a seat or something, or is it hard wired or something?

Here is what I did for a customer, they really liked it and worked good for them in an automatic set up. I was a little apprehensive about cutting into the dash but that is what they wanted.

It is probably going to take a little ingenuity, or buy one of the little units that has everything in the mic.
OR, you could spend a little time studying, get an amateur radio license, and get one of those radios. They make small little remote face radios, and the language and content available are much more appropriate for women and children...just a thought

Sixpack 73.
You can study for a license on-line. They have done away with the morse code for the Technician license.
questions study for both the technicians exam and the general exam
http://www.qrz.com/testing.html or http://www.kb0mga.net/exams/
Then, check the ARRL website to see where tests are being held in your state/area.

Hope that info helps.

CB radios do not seem to have followed the miniturization that all other electronics have. There are some small frame models and of course the all controls in Mic models, but overall they are still big. Not much difference in size in the last 20-25 years. I am happy with my mounting location, but it certainly won't work for a lot of people.

I like the looks of this install. I have been looking at doing something similar but I'm afraid there is not enough depth behind the dash. My 2950 is too long. I've got some more measuring to do. This truck has been really difficult to find good spot to mount it.

i used one of the cobra handheld devices in mine. looks very clean on the dash imo. it may not be the best but serves its purpose to me which is finding about a possible delay or wreck up ahead.
