Thanks for the pics everyone, I really appreciate it. Im starting to get some ideas on where to mount these radios in the 3rd gen trucks. The 2nd gens are easier cuz they dont have to center section of the dash. Once again thanks guys.

Could you get some more pics of your setup? I dont have a brake controller yet but im getting one and will get a cb soon and your interior looks to be the same as mine. What kind of mount did you use for the CB? Is that Big Bob's mount?

I was thinking about getting the "Vizor shelf" and mounting one in there. I haven't been happy with any of the other ways I have mounted it. Under the steering wheel my knees hit it, and having a 6 speed, it gets in the way when mounted around there. So above is the only thing I can think of. It's actually for a HAM radio, I have even thought about getting a new one with a remote mount face, that may help take care of mounting problems.

Installed mine with parts found at Home Depot. Big Bob's mount kit wasn't available yet. Doesn't interfere with shifting my G56. Brake Controller location is very easy to reach in an emergency. Down low on the dash won't be possible to reach when things get crazy.

Any suggestions on which CB to purchase? I had a Cobra 29 at one time years ago. I am looking for a basic CB for around $100 or so. Also where is a good place to purchase one? Almost forgot: Antennas as well, thinking about running dual antennas, good ones? bad ones?

Just curious, who do you guys communicate with using the CB? I used to use one offroad and to torment the local HAM radio operators on occasion (that was pretty fun!). Other than that never found much use for one.

I spend most of my time on the highway. Sirius is nice, but a CB would be nice too.

I use mine to get info from the truckers(road conditions, accidents etc.) also I travel with friends when we go to the dunes so it's easier to use than those hand held radios. Mine also gets the weather channels to keep me up to date on weather. And it's just plain ol fun listening to the truckers talk!!

Galaxy DX 949, or 959

949: http://www.galaxyradios.com/cb/949.html

959: http://www.galaxyradios.com/cb/959.html

I just got the 959 and love it.

I use dual 4ft. firestick whips.
Setup cost quite a bit more than $100 but it works great, Christmas is coming.
