Can a 03 ecm be put on a 04.5 to get rid of 3rd pulse?

Currently, I believe EFI Live is only for the 6.7's. I don't think they have a product yet for the 5.9's.

To elminate the 3rd event buld your engine, transmission, etc, to make power in the lower rpm's and keep the driven rpm's under 2500 is the only way to eliminate it.
late 05-07 is in final beta, then 07.5+ 6.7, then 03-05 should be the timeline

I agree with this, from the last info I had... Not the gospel, but I'm pretty sure that was the deal.

In the older trucks, the injector opened, it shot fuel out, then it closed. One stroke. Now, it opens and closes multiple times in one stroke. In the third gens, (correct me if I'm wrong, I've had a few tonight) the CR has a pre-injection shot, then a main, then a post combustion spray to raise the EGT's for emissions to burn off the particulates.

The 07.5's have 4 or 5 pulses....

so are you saying that the 3rd event only happens after 2500 rpm?

I think you mean late 06-07. There is no difference between the early and late 05 systems. The late 06 however started with the CAN bus and that may be the easiest to start with. Not sure cuz I have not followed it closely.

Pretty much thats it. All the CR's have a pilot injection event then 1 to n events follwing depending on which build.

The 3rd event is a combo of power (gives that flat TQ curve and HP rise all the way to 2900) and emissions. The 3rd event activates under high load high rpm conditions to make power and make the EGR work and keep the NOX emissions down. The CAT which is really a particulate trap only needs about 800 degrees to function and that happens in daily driving.

Pretty much, its load and rpm dependent. Under normal driving you get a kick in the exhaust flow about 2500 rpms that corresponds to the event. If you light foot it you don't see that spike.
