Which Bypass Oil filter system?
I'm going to order a bypass filtration system tomorrow. Which is better? OilGuard or Amsoil? I don't want to use Amsoil oil because of warranty issues, but how does their bypass filter compare to OilGuard?

I've been using the amsoil setup . Really nice ,you can prepare the hydraulic lines to any length real nice fittings too. Don't know much about the other systems but I'd recommend the Amsoil system. The filters spin on and off real easy no mess either. Check my gallery for picture.

The Amsoil unit looks really good. I like the heavy duty fittings and lines, but I have a couple of questions: Is the non-bypass unit a replacement for the stock unit? How do you return the oil to the pan? Do you punch a hole in the pan? Can you tell me where?
I have several Frantz bypass oil cleaners, still in the boxes. These are the units that use a roll of toilet paper. I had used many of these in gas engine applications when I mech'd. years ago, with great results. Is anyone using them on the Cummins? Does anyone used such a system for the fuel?
I sure am glad I found this site!
Thanks,
Mike

Sharplikestump.... I heard not to use bypass filters that use the "roll of toilet paper" because the oil just clogs it up and "bypasses" the roll on the outside between the roll and the canister.
Alltork..... great looking truck... love that color. I will try the Amsoil... where exactly did you mount it... thats the sway bar in your pic right?

Ramasaur et all - IMO the trick setup is the amsoil dual bypass bmk-15 setup with the CPFF billet adapter and mounting kit. This makes the entire process a bolt on thing, and it's extremely clean. I have had this setup sitting here in my living room waiting for the odometer to tick 15k. Well it did 2 days ago so I'm going to be installing it soon. Just did the front/rear diff fluid changes yesterday.
Feel free to pm me if you want John/CPFF's info.Plenty of TDR and DTR members have been using his kits for years. The 3rd gen bypass kit has fabulous instructions, with printed color pictures of every step.

Premo Oil bypass filter
Before choosing a bypass filter system, you might want to take a look at the Premo. http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/premo Premo filters are 3micro absolute filters with a heating element in the top to evaporate liquid contaminants from the oil. We have a Premo on all our trucks and no longer change oil at all.
