Busted intercooler
I was going down the road in my 05 CTD and noticed a sound like my ac was on high, but it wasn't, anyways long story short, my intercooler separated where the chaep plastic meets the actual cooler. What gives? why would it do that. Will dodge cover it in any way? I have no warranty and am the second owner 67,000 miles.... I can get a used stock one cheap, but where can I get a better one? How much, I saw the banks one for a little over 1000, any cheaper?

shouldn't it be covered under the 7/70 warranty???
I know there was a tsb or something in 05 on it.. only the early ones have a plastic intercooler.. later ones had the metal.

It should be covered under the 7/70 powertrain or the 10/100 engine warranty. Unless you failed to transfer the remaining warranty coverage to your name with a small fee of a US-$150, if I remember my warranty book correctly. Otherwise you are better off bying a used one that had not had the turbo grenaded.

Yeah, it was a poor design on dodge's part, early 05 was the only year that had it, 03, 04, late 05, 06 and 07 all have the metal intercooler. I've been pushing over 40 lbs through my plastic intercooler for 24,000 miles now. Still hasn't busted, but I'm sure it's time is coming.
