Bug and rock deflectors
Hi guys! I have owned a 99 Dodge 2500 for several years and have just purchased a 2004 HO cummins. I am wondering how many of you have purchased bug/rock deflectors for your trucks. I had smoked ones on my 99 but I didn't like the fact that I couldn't get at the hood and fenders under the plastic. I see that there are many variations and the oem one looks interesting to me even though it dosen't protect the fenders. I am just looking for what you folks have found works. I am also interested in sill protectors and whether you think they do any good and if so which ones you might recommend. Thanks.

I had a Lund deflector on my truck, but recently replaced it with an American Flag emblazoned EGR. Mine slips in between the grill and hood and allows for access to the hood easily for cleaning. I still have the fender shields and I have only one chip on the hood in 170K. I wouldn't purchase the factory hood shield simply because it is overpriced and carries the Dodge logo. If they want advertising they should give it away.
As for the sill protectors I have those too. They are stainless steel. I can't say that they are any more functional than asthetic.

Welcome aboard Bob!
I've got Stampede deflectors on the front of mine. 3-piece set (smoke). The hood deflector mounts between the grill and hood and the fender deflectors mount between the headlights and fenders.
I shopped around and found the best price here . The hood protector has no plastic stops or bumps to stick on it as it is a pretty erect deflector. The fender deflectors however each have one (or two).
Hope this helps, and again.... welcome!

My 99 IS FOR SALE
Smokingdog , I am looking to sell my 99. So since you asked , let me tell you about it. The weather here has been so bad that I haven't had the chance to clean up the outside to take a good picture and start advertising. It is an SLT 24 valve with 51k on it. It has just about every option that was available in 99 except leather seats and a power passenger seat. Itr's a quad cab 4X4 with limited slip and the Infinity Sound system. It also has chrome wheels, brand new tires, batteries , an Ultima brake controller, a cap ans Powervision electrically extendable towing mirrors. It has been meticulously maintained on the heavy duty schedule and has been on synthetics since breakin. Oh yea, it's an automatic with the trailer and camper towing package as well. I've probably left out a lot of details but I have the build sheet for it if you want all of the details. Let me know if you have an interest because I would be incented to move quickly now before I start the advertising campaign. Email me at robertboucher@charter.net if you want to discuss .
