Boost

Is there away to make more boost from the stock turbo without spending a whole bunch of money. Would someone mind educating me on why diesels do not have a blow off valve on them. Also, where is the wastegate on it. I have a stock 03 3500 long bed. Looking for some good advice. This is my first diesel.

Thanks
Stephen

well for $1.02, go to lowes, buy a plumbing plug, I forget the size, but you plug the turbo with it. There is a hose coming off of the top of your turbo with an elbow adapter, take it off. Unscrew the elbow adapter and install the plumbing plug. Then tie off the remaining hose out of the way.

Ive had mine plugged for 30k at least and it is fine, truck has 94k. Keeps the boost from leaving at all. Instant hp gain, and boost!

Or

put a hose clamp on the black tube and clamp it shut, same effect.

there's no blow off valve, because diesels don't create vacuum because there's no butterfly valve like you'd find on the throttle body of a gasser. It's sucking in as much air as it can possibly suck sitting at idle, the only thing that adds power is more fuel, and the turbo pushing even more air in. So there's no need to have a BOV because there isn't anything that closes causing excess build up of charged in the intake system. Go buy a chip... that's what I did. heh.

Is there any advantage to a Boost fooler or "plugging the turbo" for more boost if you do not do any mods to add more fuel?
