Thanks for your patience. I will be measuring in about an hour so I will post the info as soon as I am done. What do you think I should do when deciding between a full on custom air ride kit or doing suspension? I have heard that suspension kits with 22.5s can ride rough. I am hoping to order my Road Armor this week!

I can't measure yet because I hav ethe truck parked outside on the street and getting under the truck with the much traffic is not the wisest thing to do. Hopefully in a little while I can swing it around to the garage and get underneath!

No problem man, glad to help. Call and talk to Don, he'll shoot straight with you. The reason 22.5's are rougher is because there is less sidewall, plus the tires you use on rims that size are made for much larger (heavier) trucks so they are very stiff and don't give with a measly 8,000 or 9,000 lb truck on top of them. The suspension is where you make up the difference and personally I would go with some custom valved shocks and custom springs, but I don't know a lot about air suspensions. Don has dealt with suspension stuff for about 20 years so he'll be able to tell you a lot better than I could. Keep in mind that most suspension kits are just off the shelf items like a Skyjacker lift, or a KORE lift, or whatever it may be. They are made for trucks with 17 inch wheels and D or E load rated tires, not 18-wheeler tires on 18-wheeler rims. When you go custom with the only part of the truck that touches the road, then it makes sense that you need to go custom with the other part of the suspension to balance it out.

I always heard that playing in the street was a bad idea, but people tell me to do it all of the time.

[QUOTE=D.Wiggs;1185997]Who makes the best adjustable custom setup? I definitely want this truck to continue to use the "overbuilt" theme. As I am sure you feel the same way, I don't ever want to be "maxxing" anything out.

I just uploaded Smarty #9 and have my TST at 5/4 and WOAH!!! You wouldn't believe it! It rev's like a N/A engine, ABSOLUTELY NO LAG!! You gotta do it!

Oh, and the tires are Goodyear G182 RSDs and are 40.8" in diameter and 11.3" wide. I would still use my 7.5" rims.

Here are the tires:
[/QUOTE

Did you order the 7.5"s wheel or is that what they sent you? The rim you have is going to be to small for that tire and most likely will rub in the back due to the width of the tires. I have the same wheels and tires you have but mine rim is a 8.5".

The 7.5" rim is the one that I have with my 255/70 tires. From everyone I have talked to, I will have no problem with that tire on a 7.5" wide rim because I am not putting semi-like loads on them. Also, if I did 8.5" rims, I was told that they will rub in the rear badly.

Do you have any pics. I am curious to see what the 255/70s look like on 8.5" rims!

Wow, I would swear that those were on 7.5" rims since th etire looks identical to mine. I hope that they are in fact 8.5" because that will make everything much easier for me.
