As it states do you see it ever being possible to have a controller in cab and shift power levels on the fly?

Indeed. It also solves the problems of knowing "what the other guy has" and allows for custom written tunes to seamlessly interact with the regular smarty to push the envelope of every possible perameter.
I don't understand why any of them (box makers) have not done this???

Smarty is not a "box". It is a programmer. Would be nearly impossible to download a new program to the ecm while driving down the road. The ecm is too busy running the truck! LOL I think that is why a lot of guys are stacking boxes and programmers. That way you have the adjustablilty while driving down the road. The only thing you are adjusting though is the box.

But isnt the bullydog adjustable OTF if your running the outlook monitor?

exactly the only reason I havnt switched to a smarty. I want one so bad but I would run it on it's highest setting all the time b/c the second I turn it down, some powerjoke would come up to me and blow smoke all over me while I say hold on while I pull over and switch my programs I want one really bad though! I will be listening

Program Smarty into ecm with file you want to run every day. On race day you 've got beta files, average day regular files, tow day something else. All that ecm writing becomes a pain.
Here's my point: You download from smarty something in between like Aftermarket turbo/stock injectors say Mild or Mod TM to take it easy on the tranny for everyday driving and fuel economy. Load say sw5 or sw7. Now you stack a box that has been tuned understanding the perameters of the ecm program and the different switch levels on the stacked box begins to fill in the gaps, if you will, and compliment the original Smarty all the way up to being able to max out everything possible electronically. This way you max out timing, but not too much. Max out rail pressure, but not too much. Max out duration, but not too much. See what I mean?? Then when you have your "kill" turn the switch back down.

I guess you haven't read much about the X2 by quadzilla? That is the whole point. With downloadable updates and custom tunes, you CAN do exactly that!

On the fly adjustability is great and I would like to have it, but it's not really a deal breaker for me. I drive around on Beta 4.4 #9 all the time and with the very linear throttle range it's no problem at all. If I want to drive around slow like grandpa I can. If some ricer wants a piece I just push the pedal down further and the extra power is there.
Just think of it as OTF adjustability being controlled with your right foot.

As far as custom tunes go, it is still a trial and error on a dyno thingie.
My point is-- and lets use Quad for the hypothetical-- if he knows his programming and how they get certain things, he is in a much better position to custom program both the "downloader" and the "module" to compliment one another for best results. Right now, the "stackable" version is pressure only. What if he was able to build both products to add all perameters to their max possible?

I am holding out for the module that will make a BIG difference stacked with the smarty. 500-800 dollars is a lot of money to maybe get another 30-50hp with a new box from what I can have now. I do want in cab adjustability-- I'd just like to be able to go from mileage, or towing, to kill at the turn of the switch.
I would think by now with all the downloader/module wars out there that someone could provide empirical dyno evidence of "this stacked with this produces this" We know with reasonable certainty what power each individual power maker adds. If Quad says his std produces 100hp I know he has dynoed to back it up. That's not an issue. What I want to know is what do we actually get stacking? If running 130hp smarty tune (or bully dog) as baseline, how much more do we actually get running Quad race 140hp stacked? We know we will not get 140 additional HP. I used Smarty and Quad for the example but pick any one you want. VA with TST stacked. Whatever. I'd just like to see for once who stacks best with whom for most power and adjustability backed up with dyno #'s for a point of reference. You can't argue with that, can you?

Is there any possibility with our ecm's to have 2 different downloads at one time and then use a toggle switch to "toggle" between them???????
This is a popular thing that the DSNAX guys do. Download like a 100HP "tow tune" and a 250HP "race tune"!!!!!!
If we could do something like that atleast it would give some adjustability, enough that I would give the Smarty a try. I haven't switched yet because I would feel trapped with only 1 download and no adjustability.
