Block Heater
I just recently purchased my first diesel truck and as it is starting to get cold up here. I looked for a block heater plug under the hood and behind the bumper. There is nothing there. Is it possile for a novice like myself to install the block heater myself or is it better for the dealership to install it? Thanks for you guys help.

Do a search on these forums for the block heater and you'll find a lot of information and pictures.
All Dodges with the cummins come with the block heater installed, Dodge just charges you extra for the cord. the heater is located on the right/passenger side of the block behind the oil filter. It should have a screw on cap over the connector that you plug the cord into.
You can buy a cord from your local dealer, through on line stores, or at a Cummins store or other over the road truck parts store. Shop around as proces vary quite a bit, with Dodge usually being the highest.

I suggest geno's, or an actual cummins store, if there is one near you.
They are under 20 bucks, if I remember correctly from one of them. ^^^, but 65-70 from dodge.
Very easy to do.
