Black Powdercoated Stock 3rd Gen Wheels?

Has anybody powdercoated their stock 3rd gen wheels, black? I know TommeyGun has, but his pics are hard to see in his gallery.

I am leaning heavily toward doing this, but would love to see a picture of it done before hand..........preferably with the Chrome Center caps still in place.

I haven't found an aftermarket wheel that I like as much as our stockers, but I want it in Black........or at least I think I do. I don't like wheels that stick out beyond the body of the truck and the stock rims are the only ones im aware of with the proper backspacing. Thanks for your help.

I still have not got mine done. I did just get the wheels changed out. So I may get to it this week. I am starting to like the polished wheels; I will get a picture up.

I would like to see also. Just thought I would get on the reply string.

Genros, yours look very nice....but those are H2's right? I am really interested in the stock aluminum forged wheels....powdercoated black.

I have a friend with the satin finish wheels (like NRivers) who is going to trade me his wheels.......so I can sandblast them and Powdercoat them....then give him my polished ones to put on his 2nd gen.

It will allow me to ride on my current wheels until I have the other 4 ready to make the tire swap and install.

But, I just need to be positive this is what I want to do....because I can't undo it very easily....if I do.

If anybody else has some pics...they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'd be curious what your truck looks like to. I thought yours looked great with just the powdercoated lug nuts....and no center caps. I may possibly go that route instead of the whole powdercoated wheels.

why not just run all spare rims?

aren't they all flat black from the factory?

buddy went to get his bike rims Powder coater, guy would not.

he ceramic coated them, and gave him a patch bottle,
said if he ever could somehow chip them, heat spot with heat gun, and drip that on it.

i would think you would scratch the bead on even a PC wheel mounting tires.

NRiver.....personally.........I like the satin finish on this wheel in your gallery better. I am not saying that the polished ones look bad by any means.....but I guess it is just personal preference.

I am all but certain I will be going all black powdercoated stock wheels and keep the chrome centers........or keep the Satin colored Wheels.........and get my lugs powdercoated like in your pic above.

Doesn't appear that anybody else (other than TommyGun) has powdercoated the wheels black. I think his would look better with the chrome center instead of all black, but his pics make it difficult to make a decision from.

Thanks for any help, suggestions, pics etc.

You know that is an idea I had not thought of (running spare tire rims). Mine is definately black but I really haven't looked at it or thought about that idea. Something else to ponder.

I don't know if getting the wheels scratched would be an issue or not. I see fancy rims all the time that they manage to get the wheels on without a scratching problem. I may do some calling to Discount Tire and see what they think. Thanks for the ideas and heads up.

im not totally convinced either. No offense taken

the full shot looks a bit different than the close up.

I also have not put the stock covers on either, that may change the look.

I did figure getting the satin finish wheels powder coated would be better than the polished ones. The reason why I changed them.

I do also like the look of these.

these look interesting as well, not sure on the backspacing yet.

Still looks great NRiver. I am glad you posted this last pic to compare them.

I think the polished rims like these (which is what is currently on my truck) look great. But since im "Blacking out" my truck, I think the satin wheels look a little better. Tough decision....imo.......powder coat black w/chrome center cap vs. the satin with powder coat black lugs and no center caps. Good luck!
