I went to the Twister site and checked them out too. Interesting design. It looks like it would be a little more restrictive than a straight through design, but could be a lot better than stock. That 4" in and out model looks like the setup. Only 18" long. What do you guys think?

Re:Big truck sound??
They still haven't answered my e-mail....been a couple of days. I sent them a long list of questions about their system. Haven't even got a read receipt from them yet. ??? Could be a small operation and just real busy I guess.

Re:Big truck sound??
You know.....I would really like to hear this muffler, but I can't get a hold of these folks. They won't answer my e-mails...no phone number on the web site....and to boot their "Dealer Locator" page doesn't work, so I don't even know if they are available locally in this state. :- Anyone know how to get in touch with them? Hey Cobaltpuller, if you are still watching this thread, do you think you could ask the installer that put yours on if he has a phone number for these folks? I got lots of questions for them. That would be appreciated bunches... ;D

Re:Big truck sound??
All of my Dodges up to this point have been straight piped. I love the sound, but the new ones just don't have it. I went with a 4" MagnaFlow with 5"x24" tip. At idle it sounds stock, a little louder, but not much. Cruising it sounds just right. It gets nice and loud, but not obnoxious, when you jump on it. I'm very pleased with this setup.

Re:Big truck sound??
Sorry it has been a very crazy week at work, so I haven't checked this thread. hairy1, you are correct regarding the identification of the Twister muffler.
I paid $130 for the muffler and install, complete ou the door. To locate more info regarding this muffler, Call Greg at Mid-Valley Mufflers, Inc. in Lebanon Oregon. (541) 451.3777, no I do not know Greg personally, but he knew his stuff and seemed very patient, allowing me to stand under the rack and listen, watch, and ask questions.
As far as for the change in restriction, if you have looked into the stock muffler, you'd be amazed how restricting it is. According to some of the write ups on the Twister, it's auger with a straight through design actually increases flow, as the accelerated exhaust traveling through the straight pipe portion pulls the remaining exhaust gases throught he auger design.
As far as the sound, it sounds like a log truck, especially at low rpms, and boy does the turbo whistle through the exhaust.

Re:Big truck sound??
Ya know, I forgot one thing. Let me first start off by saying that I cannot stand drivers who do not use their cruise control on the freeway. I have always used mine, that is until now.
Tonight the wife and I went on the local interstate for approximately 25 miles. The turbo was clearly heard whistling as I kept a constant speed, but I just could not resist the temptation of my increased turbo spool up sound when I accelerated.
The looks from the other drivers, especially the stock 2nd Gen drivers make fuel economy a distant memory. Hopefully I will be able to keep my foot out of it in order to maintain my 21.6 MPG at 2000 rpm/ 68 mph.
In addition, this muffler was available in several combinations, I just chose the 3.5" model for simplicity of install.

Re:Big truck sound??
This style of "Auger" has been used for years in our Corvettes for side exhaust mufflers. They are awsome and the dyno always proves it. Here is a link to the site tha tshow some more information on them. I know these won't fit our trucks but the concept is the same. Jim
