Beta 4.4 Smarty vs. 2.3.Pl Bullydog vs. Diablo Predator RKL

Okay guys heres the dirt on these three tunes on the track seeing how we didnt get a chance to jump on the dyno this weekend. Testing was done on 2 different trucks and done until good baseline runs with each were acheived. First with the Bullydog 2.3.Pl with tst on 3/3 truck ran a best of 13.7@102 no low end truck fell on its face and lots of big end as trapped very well rail pressure was acceptable around 25k, this tune will probably dyno with most power in my opinion but were looking for a good tune to race with at this time seeing how we aren't building a dyno queen. Next is diablo sport rkl on non stacker tune with tst 3/3 truck ran a 13.33@101 lots of low end picked up .3 in 60' alone over the Bullydog but rail pressure was getting excessive at 26k-27kpsi. Next comes the best yet Smarty Beta 4.4 without speed limiter truck ran a 13.04 @103 60' was a modest 1.9 compared to the diablo and 1.7s we had been seeing but it went from 8.3-8.4 in the 1/8 to 8.2s with smarty and pulled hard on big end rail pressure was down to a modest 21k more room for tuning just not enough time . We also tried with the new x2 from quadzilla on my truck and was able to get from 13.8 with the Bullydog and x2 to 13.46@102.7 with diablo non stacker rkl and x2 stacker pressure only lots of rail pressure 26k plus to the best yet with the beta 4.4 and x2 stacker pressure only with a 13.309@103 with rail pressure between 24k-25kpsi. Thanks goes out to bob wagner and marco for hooking us up with a killer tune, keep up the good work over their guys.

Have you been able to test the 4.2 from Smarty? It seems to work the best on my 05 but I am not sure if they make it for an 07 yet.

Why did you not try the new 2.4.1 C/L from Bullydog it has no speed limiter and in my opinion pulls harder than the smarty.

2.3.pl is same tune as 2.4.1 but has some pressure added and pulls harder but buddy is trying to add more pressure then what is in it to the 2.4.1. And yes we have the 4.2 but bob told us that he believed that the 4.4 would best suite our application and the 4.4 we have has no speed limiter.

The problem with the bullydog isnt the big end or mid range, its low end trucks just fall on their face with it and its inconsistent with spooling the turbo.

CReed,

Are you guys running with low-end power enabled?? I simply can't understand this low end power issue with Bully Dog. I could understand anything else but this. Mine is ALL low-end power once the turbo spools. I could use a little more on the top perhaps, if anything. Perhaps the TST with the 'early'' twins program is something you guys want to try.??

How is the smoke with the Bully Dog when it falls flat on its face as compared to other programming??

Yep no torque management and low end power enabled and were not the only ones experiencing this delima and buddy is aware of it. TritonT ty went from 13.2 to 12.68 i believe simply switching from 2.4.PL custom PDI tune to the Beta 4.2 Smarty this weekend witnessed that first hand.

CReed, Good honest reporting...so this is why me towing 25k in the trailer with the Beta 4.4.... feels so good....I've emptied the 15 gallons of water in 800miles to keep everything in line...

Good times all around but man that Beta is rockin....I hope SW9 on the release is all that and more. Good to see that they all played well with the TST....that means that you are able to tune it to the max...Good Luck!! Kerry

Hello everyone, watching Buddy on the forums has got me interested so I'll be here to answer some questions. I'll be working with Buddy on some very cool 6.7L stuff to be announced @ SEMA. With the work we're doing on the 6.7L I have a feeling it will port over to the 5.9L easily, so that is very exciting.

We're not leaving you guys out in the rain, it's just a very busy time for us all. Every engineer in the company is concentrating on new and improved products. Our PMT is on track to get some of the wildest updates we've ever seen. This new technology is as exciting as the original "adjustability on the fly" of the triple dog.

Just wanted to come in and let you know I'm around.

Interesting once again. Would it be safe to say that 2.3.2, or almost anything else prior is preferred right now?

Even more interesting is the original SL. Could this program even be beaten? especially on '05 trucks. What happened to this? They seem to be struggling to develop something they have already developed. I don't believe added pressure was part of the original SL.

Back to my original question about smoke; could the new version 2.4.? be adding so much fuel that the cylinders are begin quenched by so much fuel and killing turbo spool?? That is why I asked about smoke levels.

You are referring to the original 2.2.7 Scary larry for 05 Autos this tune was timing and duration only no pressure, buddy has stated the 2.4.1 has the same fueling elements to a T that the 2.2.7 does simply the tsb's he has to go by only allow for so much and the tsb's back then were not as limiting.

Bob,
Thank you sir this weekend and #s wouldnt have been possible without your help. You and Marco keep up the good work. Sorry wasnt able to get dyno #s due to being sick part of the day saturday and the dyno list becoming outrageously full maddog had to move at such a fast pace 10minutes average to make 3 pulls from time truck went to back on to when it pulled off that swapping tunes for comparison wouldnt have happend. Maybe next time.

So what's the deal with the "old" 5.9?? Seems there are some serious issues making power with the newer programs. The heck with the 6.7, I want to know about the 5.9. Put some serious power back into this program....like you already had.

Perhaps Bully Dog should go into 'regeneration mode'...
