Beta 4.4 Smarty 7000+ miles Texas roadtrip

Just got back from a little drive from Texas. Thanks to all my DTR Buds who sold me some great little parts for my trucks....New injectors, PPE dual pump, H2 Cam, HTT turbo, BD twins add on kit, Ranchhand bumpers...etc. I'm gonna be busy when it warms up a bit!!!

Overall mileage was 18.6USMPG on the overhead and 18.92USMPG on the laptop. Which is awesome. The slowest I drove was 65mph in 4wd and most of it was 75 to 82mph....with a few....faster runs. This includes a little idle time and stuff. Here's the overall stats

19 days vacation, 7200miles of driving, the last 600 in 4wd in storm conditions and a total of 125hours of driving at an average speed of 57.6mph including idle time on those frigid mornings and a few drive throughs plus all city driving....Lots of motion on this trip.

This is with a pretty stock truck...Flux 1.5's, water injection (and it was used in the warm regions on the hills), fluidampr and a dirty stock air filter. Tires were at 65 front 55 rear.

All in all a good trip if the SOB idiot hadn't sold the 35+5 trailer I had on hold and doesn't call me after I drive 200miles out of my frickin way. This caused me to miss a pick up of a tool box...so some shipping will be required.

The truck never handled smoother or better and after 200k+ miles I still lov'er. Kerry

RIP, I had the 03 on this trip.
Mike, The Smarty was on sw#3....with beta 4.4 there isn't much difference between 3 and 9 other than throttle response I find....much more down low with each setting. I was gonna put it on sw1 for the trip back as when I left EP, Texas it as 18.2/18.3# but I was having fun and I didn't think it would actually go up. It was 19.0/19.1 till I hit PA on the way down....and then I started driving faster the closer I got to El Paso....and 80mph speed limits don't help either. I was hoping for 18 driving 70mph with a 50mph average so driving 80 with a 57+ average and getting more is the best ever....and that truck was loaded down with bumpers and goods...I'm sure I was over 10k.

CBrahs, I'll see on my next trip in May hopefully... Kerry

CReed, Actually when the trailer guy arsed up my trailer deal I was looking everywhere to get a trailer and saw a couple manufacturers down your way....but man you are down there from Dallas....I was looking up there. I'm still looking at driving from Florida to Texas to Oregon to home in April and May. When that trip happens, I'll be on your door step...get the pull out ready Kerry

I would not say that... It really depends on your truck and driving habits... everyone is different.

The first time I tried 4.4, my mileage did increase just ever so little over the tune I was running...

Now my best mileage is with stock injectors/aftermarket turbo/mod TM/sw 7.

And yes, sw 7 gave better mpg than sw 5 or 9. I don't know why... but it is!

I don't think the beta's, at least the 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 betas are the best for mileage....i'd stick with the standard softwares for mileage....but that's just me, i do mostly <50mph city driving and cant keep my foot out of it.

I think I know why my mileage was so good for the last 600miles....I thought my fuel pressure line was frozen...nope FASS is not working ( I hope it is a fuse) ....my buddy borrowed my truck to haul his buddies furniture...it is now back to stock....and is a little hard to start....If I didn't have a shelf of CP3's laying around...I would of fixed it in the snow bank. Anyway...even without a lift pump of any kind the truck is working great....with no fuel heater either...talk about dependable....Kerry
